I know this is for the boys, but when Aoharu released this luscious purple/dark red striped suit, I just had to have it. It takes some prim editing, but it’s another perfect outfit to match with the Dela Jape Stern boots, that I’m still smitten with. I was tempted to wear the Tumbled Stone necklace from Paper Couture with it, but I ended up colouring the frilly collar from Vette’s Boutique, because of the dandy twist. I did however wear the earrings of said set. The hair is BettiePage Voyager’s Autumn natural chignon in cocoa, and the skin is the new Alice, from Free Speerit.

With the holidays coming soon now, I thought I’d share some of my favourite little black dresses with you. Always stylish, never over or under dressed, is it the perfect party dress.

From left to right:
ICING’s Femme Noir is simply stunning. Wear it as simple or as glammed up as you like, you can’t go wrong… OK, you can.. glam it up with too much accessories and you’ll look like a christmas tree. One of the mistakes I see most often when people accessorize, is that they wear everything that comes with a bijou set. So not only the earrings and/or the necklace, but also the bracelets for both arms, the ring, the… well the everything. Just. Don’t. I picked the Florina necklace from Shiny Things for this set, and the matching bangles. The black patent belt from Fleur just adds a bit of spice. I chose the more outsdpoken Incanti shoes from Adam ‘n Eve to complete this outfit, they are covered with the tiniest multi coloured gems. The skin is MMS‘ Johannesburg, and the hair is Wild Orchid, from Exile.

The awesome Blame dress from Baiastice doesn’t need much to make you the star of the party. I wear it with the black Mary Jane sandals from Stiletto Moody and the Athena black crystal necklace and earrings from Luc fashion Jewelry. The skin is my favourite Allure from Fleur, Kitten 1 in Cinammon and the hair is Laine chestnut from ETD.

Next is one of the latest from Mimikri, Ma Chere. I just love the poofy skirt (there is also a long version, but that makes this less of a Little Black Dress). I paired it with the rather chuncky Dela Calla necklace and earrings and the lovely glamour heels from Redgrave. The skin is PXL Creations’ Linda in tan, with dark lips and natural eyes and the hair is the loose bun from Maitreya.

Far right is the scandalous Affair slip dress from Digit Darkes, which iI chose to wear with Digit’s Dictator shrug and Sheer‘s fish net tights. The shoes are from Storm Schmooz, Desir Noir, and the jewelry is the latest from Icon. The creamy pale skin is The Obscene Ciel Quartz Deity and the hair is from MMS, Sill in beach blond.

Red is one of my favourite colours. Anything red puts me in a happy mood. I have had my eyes for quite some time on Dela’s Jape stern boots, for the pretty ribbons, but I always struggled on how to wear them. These are not boots that I like with a cocktail dress, like on display in the Dela shop, so I tried something else. I went over to Aitui and picked up one of his v-neck shirts, and headed back to Dela for the Daisy vest, of which I dyed the red parts darker (edit linked parts) to match the dark red of the boots. The jeans are my faves currently, made by Torrid Midnight for the New School collaboration of TorridWear, Kari and Celestial Studios.
On the accessories’side, I’m wearing the red belt from Shiny Things (also dyed darker), the red Summer Essence bangles from +Plus and the pretty Mraz scarf from Decoy. The hair is ETD‘s Emily in blonde, and the skin is PXL Creation’s Linda with the red lips and glam eyes in the new blonde brows version.

I was taking photo’s for Antonia Marat’s flickr group, and the outfit stuck to me all day, so I might as well share it with you. The top, the tattoo, the glasses and the flower are all from Artilleri. The brown leather pants are from Adam ‘n Eve. I dyed them a bit, the original is more of a cool brown , and I wanted it warm. The belt is from SLink and the scarf (also dyed) is from Decoy. The shoes are Armidi’s. the hair is Nikita, from Truth and the skin is Linda Gen2 from PXL Creations. And killing me with style is Funky’s ciggie.

SLurls to follow.. I need to run for a RL appointment

Tuli’s new dress is so retro and fun, but it’s also more of a summer dress for me. Yeah, I know… who cares about the weather in SL, but still, there are days that I rather stick with the RL seasons (like when I have a cold). So I didn’t take off Michami‘s black stella pants that I was still wearing from my previous blogpost, and added the leotard top that once was a gift for the visitors of a Paper Couture show and voilà, it’s autumn. The pink Nalah necklace from Luc matches the colours nicely, and the teal dare pumps from Shiny Things are perfect with the belt and the collar. The hair is Armidi‘s The Future Pony, and the skin is Adam ‘n Eve’s Angel.

Style-ups for Stella

Stella (Michami), originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

Omg, two rants yesterday, what was I thinking?? *snickers* On a more positive note, last night I was talking to a friend who had some issues with Michami’s new creation, Stella. She was a bit disappointed that the jacket closes with one button and that it will mostly leave your belly exposed if you try to wear a shirt under it. So I started fiddling with it and styled it in 4 different ways, because I think this is a lovely basic suit.

So here we go, from left to right and with the upfront note that all hair is by Kavar Cleanslate from Exile, and the skins are Linda gen2 from PXL Creations by Hart Larsson.

Blue: I took Intimizzio’s white Chiara di Luna underwear layers and added the white frilly scarf from Vette’s Boutique for a clean, simple yet elegant look. The shoes are ETD’s Kristin boots in steel blue. The Fedora is attached to Exile‘s cover girl hair and is scripted to change textures, but I did ad a little purplish grey to match the colour of the suit better. The earrings are from Paper Couture.

Beige: For this version I used Michami’s gold tank top, which comes on every useful layer, and matched it with the stole from Ce Cubic effect (dyed) and the perfectly ton-sur-ton champagne Dune Bots from Maitreya. The beautiful medallion is Flora, by Luc Fashion jewelry.

Wine: I’m not smaller here… I just wear flats. Gisaci‘s Sasche flats in wine is a perfect match to this suit. The top is Novocaine‘s Genevieve long sweater in storm. The scarf is Muism‘s chunky pompoms multistripe 2 (worn on spine) and the matching chakra long beads necklace is once again from my jewlery crack dealer Luc Fashion Jewelry.

Black: Just a scarf can be enough cover up at times, like in this case my old and trusted (presculpty era) striped scarf from Iki. The chunky heart necklace is from Miam Miam (Apparently there is no shop location for Miam Miam at this time, since Viva la Glam swas closed) and the boots are from The Abyss. The Buddy Holly glasses from Artilleri are another of my all time inventory favourite, for the smart & sexy look.

So… there really are a lot of possibilities to cover up your belly button… but I do like to extend a plea to content creators… if you make shirts, please consider multiple layers, and underpants layers as well, for us avatars, who don’t want to show off their well toned pixel tummies.

Le Sigh

Sometimes I don’t get what the fuzz is about. Like in this case. The designer of these outfits, Ziamela Loon of Jador, apparently is the next big thing in SL fashion industry… She was a top 5 nominee in the Merovingi Fashion Awards 2008 (what, who?), featured on SLCN.tv, mentioned on many a blog and in various SL magazines, and she’ll be featured in this Saturday’s Runway Best of 2008 Couture Revue.

Am I crazy or am I seeing bad textures and weird prims on my untouched (except for copy/pasting and resizing them) photos? Is it just me, or is the gold “Petal” outfit having prims sticking out of my bare back and shoulders like I’m some freak sci-fi humanoid? Do I need sunglasses or it is actual full force bling on my belt? And what is with the yellow prim thingy (full of bling, who needs face lamps) sticking out of my throat? Or the random green prims on what is supposed to be gold? I think I need to report myself to The Diva for even wearing this in the seclusion of my studio for the photos of this blog post. *sighs*

The red Roxane gown didn’t look too bad on the vendor but what’s with the prim skirt that billows harder than a flag in a hurricane? Or the top that looks ragged on the sides? Or the prims of the skirt sticking out of my torso ( I do have a pretty average shape, which even tends to be full figured according to Sl standards). It all looks so random.

The Maxipull is actually the best looking set I spotted in the shop, and I was actually thinking that, although the 3 different stretches of the knit texture won’t be seen on my avatar anytime soon again, the huge collar would make a nice accesoire in my winter wardrobe. Until I saw the huge black spot on the back. Not for further wearing… Oh, btw… the belt is at it’s smallest like this, and I suppose it’s there to cover up the ugly difference between the knit stretch of the top and of the skirt part.
Money wasted? Hmmm.. well.. I think it was about time that I checked out this much praised designer for myself and as such, I even think that it is money well spent. But please.. before you call yourself a designer, a fashion designer in SL even and charge on average between 500 and 1000 L$ for your designs…. make sure you actually are able to produce decent textures, and spend some time in the Ivory Tower for building basics, kthxbai. /rant off.. again….

Renderosity Rant

Someone asked me the other day if I had a LM to Renderosity Hair. She’s fairly noobish and she saw so many of this creator’s hair on the various Flickr streams and in ads in a lot of shops. I chuckled and explained her that it is a set of images one buys from Renderosity.com to use in SL or other artwork, but that it was not hair that is available in SL to actually wear on your avatar.

Last year, I remember being utterly frustrated after having seen a photo of Ginny for a release at Last Call with amazing curly hair that vaguely reminded me of Analog Dog, but was like 100% better than the hair being in the shops, and we had a great laugh when I finally got hold of her and I was told that it was indeed Analog Dog hair, but heavily modded in Photoshop… grrrr… It still looked like it could be available in an SL shop though. Like a fool I had been TP-ing all day hoping to find that pretty hair somewhere. So I guess I can’t blame my newbie friend for doing the same.

It made me think though. Renderosity hair is making its way fast into SL, in ads and vendor shots, and everyone and their mother throwing it on their avies in photoshop for Flickr and Koinup and such. To be honest, it is a development that I don’t like. I almost consider it a bill of incapacity towards our hair makers, like their efforts are sub par to the brushes created for photoshop art. The first few time that I saw it, I was still, wow.. nice… but I’m growing tired of it quickly and I wish that the talented photographers of SL would be better patrons to the talented hair designers around especially when they do commercial work for SL content creators….. /rant off

Feeling blue? Maybe, but I really like how this look turned out, it’s crisp and elegant. I started with the necklace, the beautiful ethnic Nalah from Luc’s. I chose to wear it with CKSD blueberry essential wrap sweater, that I made a bit darker. The I covered the very deep cleavage a bit with Insolence’s Aradia corset, and the white Helena sash from Persona, which for me is a really wonderful outfit help to cover up tops and bottoms with different textures or to make the EMS less visible. The belt is from Shiny Things (also tinted to match the rest of the outfit) The white jeans are from Celestial Studios and the pumps are from Blaze (basic must have and a really great deal as a fatpack). The hair is ETD’s Laine (strawberry) and the skin is my favourite of the gorgeous new make ups on PXL Creation’s Linda, NightNDay (with blond brows, new option!)

I wanted to make an outfit with parts of the gorgeous traditional Breeze outfit from the Sweetest Goodbye. So I took the top of the set and decided to wear it with one if the skirts that I still love best, Paper Couture’s fall ’06 Shorthand, tinted in a very dark grey to create a dress like look, which was finished off with one of Persona‘s Helena’s sashes (the black, tinted darker). The chocolate stockings are by 1-800 Bettie’s. The shoes are the free slinky black stilettos from Maitreya, which I love for their simple sculptie perfection and beautiful texture. The jewelry is vintage Paper Couture as well, the black pearl earrings I suppose are still available, the ring was a Jewelry Expo ’07 exclusive. The skin I’m in is Linda, from PXL Creations, which, will be hitting the shop again in a few days with new make ups and updated skintones, and the hair is from Melo, from Irrolic.

For this look I started with the high waisted jeans from Casa del Shai’s Dakota pantsuit and since Kyoot Army’s folder is just one up in my inventory I started scrolling that for a matching top. I found it in the red Electro Ballet top. Junko Otsuka made the gold necklace for Icon and the bright red ballet flats are from Truth. I totally stocked up on the 100L$ Deviant Nation skin sale at Celestial Studios and wearing DN Vamp Beguile (cashmere) , and the hair is Elizabeth2 from Truth.

I felt like dressing up a bit, and ended up with quite a sophisticated look for today. The dress is Bossa Nova/Comme Il Faut’s Last song dress in pearl, paired with the white Dictator Shrug from Digit Darkes. The scarf is from Muism (attached to spine) to match with the Cluster jewelry from Luc Fashion jewelry (Doesn’t appear to be in the shop anymore, Lucas, please make an updated version of this set, I still love it) The belt is from Maitreya. The shoes, I bought them at 69. I’m wearing Erin skin by La Sylphide (I love those eyebrows!) and the hair is Wild Orchid from Exile.

Sale @ Savvy

Everything has been marked down 50% at Dakota Buck’s Savvy? location at Imogen. This includes fatpacks, too, so it’s a steal and a great opportunity to make your Savvy? collection complete.

Mind you, this sale is only at Imogen, so not at other Savvy? locations.
Other need to knows: I’m wearing Erin from La Sylphide, and Lions in the storm hair from George Street. The Kailena jewelry is from Muse.

Yes, I know it’s autumn, and I do love snug sweaters and comfortable tweeds… but yay for my avatar, who can wear a bikini in the snow and still be happy. So when I saw this cute slip dress at League, I decided to work with it for another outfit. It’s quite a League outfit today, because also the turquoise hipster belt that I bought ages ago is from League, as are the beautiful boots (you get two versions… with and without subtly glowing buttons and they come with a resizer script). The tights were a freebie from G.L.A.M. (no longer available, since the sim was taken over by aliens). The amazing necklace (no really… I plan to post a close up of it soo, to show you the incredible texture soon) is from Paper Couture. The skin I’m in is Indie, from Dutch Touch and the hair is Holly @ ETD.

Adam ‘n Eve has a long history of high quality, mainly hand drawn skins, but yesterday Sachi released a skin that is completely different from her previous work. 100% photo real, and with a smoothness and detailing that is gorgeous. I’m so pleased with how it turned out that I asked my friend, and amazing photographer, Raffaello Robbiani to create an image that would be fit for this angelic beauty. Hope you like it. Go try a demo and check the seamless perfection of this skin.
