Gotta love your sister… whether she be SL or RL… now that I think of it, my RL sister has a habit of buying me fun gifts too… and I don’t mean the newest showergel at Lush, although I admit, my RL sister does spoil me rotten with those goodies… anyway I’m rambling. It’s Saturday, I’m sleep deprived, and the only person I consider to be my sibling in SL, the lovely Samara Barzane, dropped me these octopus slippers with the words: “Everyone needs a pair of these”.

And you do. These are so silly that I snorted my tea over the the table, I could only barely avoid my computer. If that wasn’t enough, Sam challenged me to blog them… so this one is for you, Sam! ❤

(anyway, in case you’re still interested…the kitchen is from Blonde. The octopus slippers are from E! Eclectic Accesoires, the apron that I retrieved from the depths of my inventory is from 3star design, and the lime sheer ribbed cami is from Popfuzz. I’m wearing Canimal’s Suicide Girls body graffiti and Curio’s April Rainbow 2 in petal. My hair is Trixie, in toffee, from Artilleri, and the smoke is from FNKY!)

Angel

Funk Schnook @FNKY! has released a new skin. A Female one… Angel, and I love it. It’s a very pretty face, with a more than decent range of 12 make ups and she’s available in 2 skintones, Medium and Sunkissed. I’ve picked the lighter medium skintone. Each angel skin (L$ 1499) comes in version A and B and body 1 and 2. A&B are about the make ups… B being more intense than A, which is more of a day version of the make up. Body 1 and 2 are referring to the shading being softer on one and more defined on the other skin, giving her a slightly more toned look.

I’ve opted for a fresh and casual look today, starting with Aoharu’s red floral dress and their black cropped jeans jacket. Then I picked the New School collab jeans from Kari/Torridwear, and Kari’s plain black belt. The Billow boots are a classic from Maitreya and I threw on a couple of gold bangles from Armidi.

I’m wearing Natasha hair in Treacle, the latest addition to Truth’s hair collection, and my skin is one of my all time cutest Fleur skins, Boutique Vanilla Trois Parfait 3.

I went to Dela to get another one of their Maria blouses, but came home with this gorgeous yellow Vivian blouse too. It’s beautifully textured and the sculptie attachments are really well made. I’m wearing it with Maitreya’s ivory HighSkirt and styled it with Muse’s nougatine bracelet (hunt exclusive) and Celine pearl necklace. I found this braided FTN683 hairdo at Boon and it’s perfect with the grasshopper hat from Chapeau Très Mignon. The Kona make up from Cupcakes’ Seduction skin is my skin of choice for this look.

The Vivienne dress from Stitch by Stitch is a really cute boho tunic dress, but for today’s look I have made the prim skirt a bit shorter, so that it is more of a top. I’m wearing it with Coco’s knee length denim and SLink’s Eve summer sandals. Lucas Lameth’s tiger’s eye Mala Meditation beads and Primoptic’s Evole glasses are the perfect accessoire for this make love-not-war like look.

I’m wearing the latest addition to Free Speerit’s skin collection, the fair version of Kimberley (naturel) and my hair is from Exile, Huntress in hazelnut.

I’m feeling pink again.. I have that often lately. The new cardigan from Coco is so cute. Although it comes in various textures, I really like this flowered version. I’m wearing it with the Cole boatneck top from W&B (unreleased) and Zaara’s white Ishaya velours slacks. To break all the pinkness I’m accessorising with Lucas Lameth’s blue Maya II set.

I’m still in Atomic’s natural tan skin and picked LeLutka’s Grace in natural brown.

Atomic skins

It’s been a while since Ivy Graves started the work on her sim and her new skins, and the result of both is lovely. These skins have a fragile facial beauty and come in 4 skintones, and a plethora of make ups, from very natural to ultra dramatic. I picked up 3 of the 4 skintones and to the upper left you can see a skin with different eyebrows, Ivy sent that one to her group 2 weeks ago, and obviously there have been some change between than moment and the day of final release. Whereas I like the subtle look of the (non mod) eyebrows, I am a huge fan of adjustability, or, if one chooses to make a skin non mod, the availability of more hair colour options to chose from. The mouth of this skin won me over, it’s so pretty.

I’ve put together a quick, casual girly look for today with Michami’s white glam tank and the skirt from SD Boutique’s Chiffon dress. I’m wearing 2 belts… one on the jacket layer from league, the brown wide belt mid hipster, and the chrochet belt from Reale. My boots are from League again, the brown Asuka boots, and the tropical wooden necklace is from Lucas Lameth.

I’m wearing the brand new light brown Self Absorbed from Kyoot Army, and a skin that Violaine Villota from Fancy Fairy is currently working on. Yes, that’s a faded crescent tatoo on my forhead. The Celts apparently used Woad to make tattoos with and it would be an indigo-ish blue. Ok… I’m rambling.. I think I’m just going to order me a pizza.

I just fancied something to wear with this beautiful Give Me POison tattoo form Garden of Ku, so I kept it fairly simple with the Chiara di Luna from Intimizzio by Armidi, Launa Fauna’s leather Isabeaux slacks and Nylon Outfitters 3 hole black belt. I quickly grabbed Maitreya’s black long scarf, because it really goes wigth anything, and Emery’s gloves from the Marilyn outfit. The cuff is from Insolence’s Misty line.

I found myself wearing Free Speerit’s Kimberly again, it has the best red lips around at this moment, IMO, and I’m wearing Red Queen’s Crush hair, in Soil (with cap).

Yesterday I received an invitation from Miskat to come take a preview at his exhibition, which will open later today and it’s such a fascinating place. Text and photography mix in an all surrounding experience… Besides it being a very personal story which combines the human and the avatar, it shows a wide range of the best fashion, skins and male avatar appearance in general. Style Notes are available. The show also displays the power of emoting. It is one of the better examples how to get true emotion and expression in virtual imagery. Miskat Qinan’s first exhibition in Second Life is hosted by Cybernetic Art Research Project CARP/Diabolus at the Camera Obscura Gallery. As usual with CARP/Diabolus Miskat’s work will be exhibited in a spectacular way.

I found it to be very intrigueing and I can recommed you to go take a look. You’re all more than welcome at the official opening at 2pm SLT.

Indulging yourself with a luscious gown… what a little luxury. I recently discovered The Laughing Academy, owned by Ms. Tabitha Ninetails, who has a delectable collection of Victorian and Edwaridan attire. I picked this Erielle gown in the fairytale princes version and matched it with Balderdash’s Jazz Funeral necklace, earrings and bracelet. Miriel’s Gibson Girl hair is the perfect Victorian updo. Today’s skin is Cupcakes’ Lovespell Glam, in Honey.

Funny how one look can trigger another… I was wearing BareRose yesterday… and I found myself picking BareRose again today. The pink Silent Heart outfit is beautiful again. So well textured, with beautiful prim details like the mask, or the spiked belt on the skirt. I’m also still wearing the Den Dou stitch tatoo which I was wearing yesterday, but this time I’m combining it with the ultra pale Fleur China Femme Fatale 1. The hair is from Red Queen, it’s called Fuzzy and the colour is called Soil.

Valena’s Style it challenge was too good not to take up… so today’s look is around Baiastice’s Diamond Eyepatch. I got these good ole Billy Idol vibes when I started to play with it, so I rocked it up with Barerose’s Hell Fire coat and Tart’s ultra low rise Crack jeans. The SW necklace and bangles are from Icon. Killing yourself with style is easy with FNKY’s cigarette.

I’m wearing Mai Skins Mia midday skin vol.7, and MAD designs Luka in Swedish blonde III. The stitches tattoo is from Den Dou, and I tinted it for a more bruised look.

It is such a lovely day today, that I’d want to go sailing. I used to do that a lot when I was a kid, get on my bike, drive 14 miles to lurk at the harbour, running errands for the yacht club, and if I got lucky, one of the boat owners would ask me to come along. Later I became an instructor, and spent a lot of time on the water.. Now that I come to think of it… why on earth did I ever quit….. Anyway, today’s look is inspired by that. Whippet & Buck’s Stein shorts in indigo (I hope they can give their brand a go soon) and Artilleri’s red sailorette top and, because it still gets chilly some time, Coco’s over the shoulder sweater. Accesoires are minimal, with Icon’s red straw bangle and Muse’s Kailena earrings.

Synergy by Opium

A couple of months ago, Alaska Metropolitan asked a few people if we’d like to beta test her new skins. Being the total skin whore that I am, I didn’t know how fast to say “I Do!”. Now the invitation came with a warning, this was not the average SL skin like you buy it everywhere… this involved downloading and fiddling with the SL folders on your computer and, oh Lordy, I’m such a coward when it comes to that. On top of everything I was having some serious hardware issues at that time, and using a computer that was not mine, so downloading and replacing wasn’t even an option.

But… hardware issues are there to be resolved, and I’m back on my own computer.. and I honestly pretty much forgot about Synergy, until I started to clean up the mess that my inventory usually is, and retrieved Alaska’s folder from the clutter.

Following the instructions on the notecard, the download, renaming and replacing of the skin files in the SL program folder was actually less complicated than I feared it to be. After I did that, I went back into SL, and chose create>new skin from my inventory, and there she was… Synergy, by Opium… I had replaced the LL default skin with Alaska’s textures and had the best system skin ever (on the photo to the lower right corner).

Now having the default skin, adding make ups is what makes this interesting, because Alaska’s make ups are on the head template So, when you would normally wear a skin , you’d wear an assembled head/upperbody/lowerbody skin, but in Synergy’s case, you’re wearing a head “tatoo”and for the rest you still see the “default” synergy skin that you have on your harddisk. Are you still with me? I hope Alaska will release these skins soon, because you’ll really want to try this out. And ofcourse there will be more skintones available then, and the make ups you’ll buy will be coming in light skin and dark skin versions, the hue and saturation adjusted to the skintone of your choice. All in all there will be a whopping 1728 options to customise your skin from for the basic skins alone, chosing hair colour, freckles, eyebrow shape, skintones, pubes, tanlines etc etc (24 head options X 4 upper body options X 18 lower body options) and about 50 make ups on top of that!
