Drumroll……..

skins

A couple of years ago I had a run in with the creator of RAC, now known as Laqroki or LAQ, and while it was really unpleasant, I ended our conversation with words something like “if you ever make a skin which I do like, I would like to feature it on my blog”. For me that was a big “if” and an even bigger “ever” because it’s no secret how I think about LAQ’s skins. I just never even wanted to put energy in trying to like them, let alone use them. Put off as I was by price, marketing as well as skin quality. Besides there have always been more than enough people wearing the skins, and I’m simply not arrogant enough to think that me wearing them (or not) would have made any impact, positively or negatively, on the brand’s reputation.

Anyway, enough of the past. With the release of the blond Pearl, and a couple of weeks later with brunette Elena I have found not one, but 2 LAQ skins I am more than happy to wear. They are not my fave ever, for that they are a bit too glossy, and there are too much seams. But what a cute faces and a lovely belly, and especially when you compare quality to price, it’s just a very attractive skin, After all, 1990 L$ for a pack of 10 make ups, who is going to whine over a couple of seams?

Hair by fri.day, lingerie by Dutch Touch (on Pearl) and Whippet & Buck (on Elena).

  1. I went and tried on the new LAQ – they’re lovely skins, I’m personally not quite ready to take the plunge yet but while looking them over I saw the seams as well (they’re not huge, but they are visible) and I even mentioned to some friends how it’s odd how older/well-known skin designers rarely get raked over the coals like newer/establishing skinners do. I mean, if tomorrow Gala or Belleza released an entirely new skin from head to toe, how many people are going to run and blindly buy it and how many are actually even going to take their clothes off before doing so?

I guess the argument would be that established skinners have already proven themselves as quality, but then…shouldn’t near-perfection be expected of them?

Anyway, thanks for being just about the only blogger I’ve seen to even mention the seams.

  3. I have been a Laq girl from the start and never regretted..fab faces,NOT so glossy lips as other very famous brand of skins, and you dont look like a clone like it happens with other skins( in the end they all look the same)

  5. I haven’t noticed any seams on Elena or Ania, as they are the two LAQ skins I own but I’ll be sure to go check now.

I did notice a seam on the outside calf of the Curio body though and it repeats on all the skins. It may just be me but I have pictures of it and sent them in but never got a response.

I won’t lie that most of my time in spent with me standing around naked sorting my inventory so I stare at myself constantly so, again, I’ll have to check for myself.

  7. You know I think it is a good thing when we can set aside our personal feelings and recognize the beauty in someone’s work – hugs to you for doing this! I do think that Laqroki skins are very customizable and amazingly priced for the value of the product. You can see two different avatars with the same Laq skin and see very different interpretations. It was my second upscale skin I bought in 2007 and have remained a fan since. At times the faces are almost to pretty for me cause I do like to ugly up Lizzie a tad, LOL.

I contend if you look hard enough you will find seams on any skin. For me though personally, I can handle seams anywhere but the face. I tried an immensely popular skin among emo, indie bloggers like me (LOL) but there was this HUGE mouth seam so I wasn’t to spend my Lindens there. I haven’t seen seams on the Laqroki faces but the body to be honest I haven’t looked. I never do…I’m so bad about that, ha!

  9. On a serious note, you’ve pointed out the few issues I found, as far as the seams. The lips are overdone for me, but then I like a natural/nude lip, without a high gloss.

*snickers and points, knowing your struggle over these skins and going through the demos with ya at poolside

Guess this is payback.. Pearl yes.. and now Elena – so I WIN!

I remember YOU talking me into snakeface and I have never looked back!

  11. They’re still a little to shiny for me but I think the brows are beautiful. I’ve been considering grabbing one or both for swimsuit ads though, not sure the sexed up look would work for me every day.

I don’t begrudge designers going for the shined up look, after all the vast majority of sl spends most of their time slutted up like Gogo (jk<3).
