Happy Queen’s day! My fellow Dutch are going a little orange crazy on this day, which is the celebration of the Queen’s Birthday. I’m not likely to go into town today, but I figured I’d post this link to give you an idea what Queen’s Day in Amsterdam is like.
I’m wearing Nicky Ree’s Queen’s Day special Fiona in Orange and the oddly scripted but awesome looking Precious Queen crown, necklace and earrings from Alienbear. Odd because the crown comes with a built in heavy facelight, and the script is not really logical. Once you have figured how to turn it off it’s quite ok though, after all, with windlight who needs facelights anyway but to annoy your fellow residents.

Mandala has a new collection of jewelry out, among which this face and ear piercings. Although I don’t wear face piercings often, I think these are quite stunning. Mind you, they likely require some adjusting, which can be a challenge in laggy places, but they are copy/mod, so save an original version and play til perfect 🙂

I’m using Zaara’s lime Churidar (which came with the fuchsia Syona Kurta set) and matched it with Très Blah’s black scoop neck top for today’s look. The back of Maitreya’s Billow Boots matches perfectly with the black of the top. You’d be surprised how bad different shades of black can look together, but this is a good fit!
I’ve kept accesoires simple with Illusions’cord necklace and bracelet, and Artilleri’s Onyxia teal sunglasses. The bow belongs to the scoop neck top.
I’m wearing Tuli’s Sayuri tone 2 make up 1 (freckles) and Tukinowaguma’s Ellie hair in black and then tinted in some of the many options that pop up when you touch the hair. Lagtastic without a doubt, but cute.

A quick one today, because I have to hurry. I hate starting my days in a rush, but… oh well, I suppose sometimes it’s just that way.
I’m wearing Argrace’s new chiffon tunic (small flower), Ingenue’s Liasis shoes in late and Boom’s Chains of 925.
Today’s skin of choice is the beautiful red brow version of Dutch Touch’s Keira (caramel, dawn) and Truth’s copper Tesa hair is the finishing touch to this quite romantic look.
A special heads up for my eyes, because I rarely mention them. 99% of my time I find myself wearing these Glow eyes from PXL Creations in greygold. I used to be a hard core Miriel fan, but I love these just as much these days.

Yes, I fatpacked on these, and I also got the SLDD special purple tunic (only available today, only for SLDD members. Click here to read more).

Miss Falingwater Cellardoor was gone for so long, that I almost expected her sim to quietly disappear one of these days, until a couple of weeks go she appeared on plurk… and updated her gorgeous flowers… and asked for blog links… and today she released new shoes!!! I’m a happy chick!
Shiny Things has always been one of my favorite shops in SL, and as for these Zimmy’s? I do not want to let go of them. Hurry over to Shiny Things, because Fally has a new subscribo thinger and as a welcome gift there are these shoes, in faded denim!!!

The sim is modeled after the novel written in 1931 by H.D Lovecraft. Its a dark and stenchy and haunted place, yet strangely attractive. Lots of abandoned, worm-eaten and crumbling house to explore. But, beware, this is a role playing community, so please do not disturb the community members. When I visited Innsmouth earlier, there was no one around though… but actually that was only adding to the creepy atmosphere. A (RP) must see. Amazing sim.

When I started to unpack all all 8 make ups in 5 skintones and tried the first one of Exile‘s new skins on, my initial thought was… “hmm… I don’t think this skin is for me” . Some of the stronger make ups look a little weird on me, just… not… me… (which may sound weird considering I wear a lot of different skins and have no issue adjusting my shape, but still).
But then, going through the make ups, I noticed that the softer lip colours were actually looking not bad. Not bad at all. Rapture gives my avie a more mature look, without the skin issues that usually go with an aging skin. So I went into appearance and tweaked my shape a little bit (pic of Rapture on my normal shape aside to the tweaked shape for comparison below) and I pretty much like the result.
Rapture is one of those skins that for me look great from a distance, but once you zoom in, the body shading that gives the over all definition, looks a bit harsh. For instance, Kavar added some shadow under the arm, which on the full body pic looks really good and natural, but when you zoom in… it’s really just a dark and somewhat blurred spot in the elbow pit. But since a lot of my fellow skinwhores frequently state that it’s really about the face, I think this will not be a major issue. Also I am not a fan of the knees, which do look a bit like my RL age.
On the other hand, I really love the slightly desaturated skintones. Out with the orange self tan looks!! In with the natural skintones!!
