After the LeLutka spring event, and the incredible generous gifts of the ladies behind the brand to the attendants of the show, I found it hardto make a choice for the items to use in today’s look. I ended up mixing the Micha jeans, Gigi trench and Shanon shoes from Lelutka with the avocado scoop neck shirt and the new Jaquie hair from SLink! and oddly enough, I find the deep turquoise eye shadow of Fleur’s Vivant Marni 3 in buff the perfect contrast with the green from this outfit. The earrings are the olive melange earrings form Zaara.

The daffodils are in full bloom here and there is a lot of them just outside of my house. That might have inspired me to pick W&B’s gold Cole top as a colour base for today’s look. I’m wearing it with Nyte ‘n Day’s snake grey Vestige skirt and Michami’s Stella jacket. During a recent inventory purge I found Boing Fromage’s Sautoir set back, and the necklace, although an old piece in my inventory, is still so good! The shoes are Fnky’s classic pumps.

I’m wearing the pretty Poof hair from Magika and my skin is another work in progress from the hand of Hart Larsson @ PXL Creations.

Preview PXL Creations:Jude

This is the first time I practically begged Hart to send me samples of a skin. And a male skin too…. Ok, I admit, usually I don’t beg at all, because we have this understanding that works out just fine: he sends me samples for my opinion and I drive him crazy with my feed back. But I don’t know anything about male skins, so this has really been his private project. I even only saw it for the very first time when it was well on it’s way already. First time I saw Hart in this skin, I was like… “wtf are you wearing…? That’s gorgeous…” And then I drooled some, I swear. By now the skintones are final (summer, autumn, winter and spring), and Hart will be working on the hair options. For sure this skin will come with a hairbase, for the other options, I’m still clueless, but I will keep you guys posted.

Über socialite Paris Hilton turned 28 and like a well educated spoiled brat should, she didn’t have one, not 2 but at least 3 b-day parties… a pre-day, a b-day and a Vegas do-it-all-over-again-day party. During the Vegas party she was wearing her hair in a flapperish do, which Zerlinda Boucher recreated for SecondLife and which I’m wearing here. So I decided to stay withing the theme and dressed up in Redgrave’s silver sequined Club dress, with Lucas Lameth’s silver Kau’i disk necklace and Michami’s black Noomie jacket. The boots are Tesla’s Kensingtons which I absolutely love.

Today’s skin is the gen 4, from Aden.

Genesis – Eden skins

Warning: opinion ahead!

The latest project of the multi talented Ms Ryker Beck is skins. Those who follow her on Plurk have been taken on a weeks long journey of development and teasing and finally, the end result is here, and it’s very pleasurable.

Eden has a face that remotely reminds me of some of the skins that I used to wear a lot, it has a full, luscious mouth like Evermore’s Hybrid and the carefully plucked and styled eyebrows like Pixeldeep skins. Said eyebrows are non mod though, and while they are subtle enough to not be “in your face” for the more fair haired, it would be nice to have options, especially since Ryker has made a tintable landing strip on clothing layers. To tackle the alpha bit in a skin is not the easiest thing to do though, so it might be something for the future to work on. As are the freckles, I really like a freckle face, I even like a freckled skin better, but for Eden I’ll go with the non freckled version, because honestly, these freckles look more like a adolescent skin problem to me. Eden comes in 8 skintones, ranging from a very pale, desturated skintone to a really dark one. Some of them more saturated than others, some of them quite orange even. I’m sharing the fairly neutral Nutgmeg with you which I totally like. Eden will be available in 20 make ups.

On to the body… Ryker is known for some fairly explicit skin reviews in the past, and while you won’t get any spread eagled shots on this blog, I’ll try to be as explicit in words as I possibly can. Continue Reading »

Feeling a bit bohémienne today I picked Ibizarre’s brown hippy skirt and wear it with the beautiful orange Spring sweater that I picked up at my last spree at DP YumYum. Then I added a little contrast to it with Lucas Lameth’s Maya II necklace and earrings retextured the turquoises from SLink’s leather belt accordingly. Make sure to always save a copy of the original if you do things like that. I picked Maitreya’s Grace heels to complete the outfit.

I’ve picked Soda’s Spring girl next door skin because of the sweet look and Analog Dog’s Go hair which has some pretty amazing textures.

Today is Jacky’s b-day… she’s one of my oldest RL friends, and not in SL or anything.. but I know she used to read my blog at some point, so… Jacky… if you still do… CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

That being said, I went for a very laid back look today with the beige sweat cardigan and the brown light pleated skirt from DP YumYum, worn with Tesla’s bronze Kensington boots, Kari’s plain brown belt and Atelier AM’s volume necklace.

I started out with the hair this time, I picked it up at Tukinowaguma and it’s called Setuna. I wanted something dandy to go with it, so I decided to go with the jacket and the blouse of Skin Flicks’ brown Cynthia skirt suit and pair it with Dela’s beige Katherine pants. The shoes are Maitreya’s Verve in olive and the gloves are the tinted tan gloves from Fleur. My earrings are from the faceted dark garnet arrangement set from Paper Couture and so is the Diamond Encrusted Square Cut Amethyst Ring.

Today’s skin is Efe, from PXL Creations.

Quick and dirty, because I’m late for work already… I’m wearing the new jeans from Coco (they have opened a new mainstore and have lots of newness out) with the blueberry plain tank from Très Blah as well as the sjort Lovely Leather Jacket from Fashionably Dead. The black long scarf from Maitreya, the biker boots from Redgrave and the (tinted) white Hombuth hat from Apollon complete the look.

I’m wearing PXL Creations’Grace skin with rose lips and cat eyes and Truth’s Amber hair in copper.

Feet

I like how this photo has turned out. And since I’m about to ramble on prim feet… let me start by saying that post processing in this photo has merely consisted of adjusting some levels. This image is not heavily photoshopped.

Feet… they have been my fave thing to rant on in SL ever since I reviewed my first skin and was appalled by the ugly sloppiness of the avatar feet in general… and of that particular skin more specifically. Making good feet on the SL mesh is, most definitely, a challenge.

And now there are shoes not only with prim toes, but entire prim feet. Well, technically they are not new right now, but lately more people are able to market decent looking ones. Like J’s, Stiletto Moody and more recently SLink!. I’ve tried a pair of the prim toe shoes from J’s, but they were hard to get the skin tone right for me… so they have not survived the last inventory purge. Stiletto Moody’s look good… but I refuse to spend 1499 L$ on a pair of shoes… they don’t look thát good to me, honestly and… can I haz demo please if I am about to spend that amount of L$? I have however, bought a couple of SLink’s. Because I like Siddean and her work, because her work is original and authentic… and because she made a nifty HUD with the shoes that made tinting them, well… not a total piece of cake.. but easier than I remember from JC’s. And because… call me cheap… she provides a demo and the shoes cost 500 L$, which is a third of what Stiletto charges!

This morning, along with the latest release at SLink I picked up the prim feet as well and made a couple of photos with it, trying out different light settings and such. And there we have what is my main issue with these feet… I can make them work with my skin, yes… in my light setting… but to someone else, they may look like frankenfeet or gangreen affected. Ever since LL introduced windlight we have tons of settings to choose from or able to create our own acording to our preferences… SL has become a far more individual experience. I can look at a sunset… and so can you.. we can sit on the same beach… or car… and look at the same scenery… but if we don’t share the same windlight setting… it can look al watermelony to you… and fairytalish to me…and we can both love what we see… well.. that is.. I probably like my feet… and in your light… they can freak you out.

So… to prim feet or not to prim feet….? I like them for photos… but even in SL I’m way too self concious to not be bothered if you see my feet like some ugly zombie subjects… especially because in RL, I think my feet are the only really pretty part of me.

So the feed will be full with Michami’s sassy new Noomi jacket today… and rightfully so, because it’s fun and fresh and totally well made. I’m wearing it with the GoldGlam pants from LeLutka and the one shoulder top from the Stay Pretty outfit from Emery. The Mendy scarf is from Celestial Studios, the belt from SLink (coloured the turquoise stones to match the scarf) and the black funny girl flats are from Periquita.

I’m wearing LeLutka’s Helsinki make up 6a and also LeLutka hair, Jean in ginger.

Tuli’s Natalie

I think I’m getting old or something. Last week I made photos of Tuli’s Natalie for a review… and then forgot about them, or the review in the chaos of my RL week. So, with some delay (and the face shots done over because I liked the format that I used yesterday for Annyka’s) I’s like to state that I’m glad that Tuli’s latest has again the softness that I appreciate so much in her skins.

Kallista, her previous release, whilst being a beautiful skin with a lot of dramatic make ups was too hard for me, too lean, with very pronounced ribs and over all bone structure. Natalie on the other hand, is soft, and feminine and err… yeah, she’s lickable. Natalie is available in 7 skintones and comes with a plethora of make ups. The faces have faint freckles and every skin pack contains 2 skins, full make up and natural lips as well as optional pubes on clothes layers and pre-tinted brows.

I obviously am not a natural Tuli shape girl, because I had to tweak my shape a little. My own mouth would be a wee bit too small to be beautiful with these skins. But I’m used to minor shape tweaking, so I just save a new copy with the name of the skin and store it in its folder.

Back to the body. Natalie has an over all lovely shading, with a stomach that I really like, and I always love the way Tuli shades her boobs. They just look pretty. These skins are pretty flawless. So that is no topic for discussion. You either like it or you don’t, because it’s good for your avie, or not. And I think that is the strongest thing about Tuli as a skinner she just makes quality skins that make a lot of avatars look beautiful. For me, Natalie is a more than welcome addition to my skin collection. I especially like the way the darker skintones look on me.

Other need to knows: I’m wearing Zero Style’s Dana, Skin Flick’s Marsha undies and Insolence’s Marie Jeanne heels… Oh and did I mention Tuli’s Natalie? 😛

Coming Soon: Infinity Skins

A couple of months ago Anyka Bekkers of Blowpop called out for beta testers for her new skins. I’ve always liked Annyka’s approach to skins, but unfortunately, her skins never fitted me well, so the times I have been seen in public wearing hers, add up maybe to 4… 5 times? With the betas I already noticed a difference in the way the skins looked on me. More friendly, less spoiled… I gave her a ton of feed back and then… nothing. Every now and then on Plurk I read how Anyka decided to rebrand and was looking for a new name, and a new style for her vendors and shop… but no release in sight. Until last night, when she dropped a preview pack on her beta testers with not one, not two, but three new skinlines! And they look good on me!!!!
