Yanno, clothes

Accessoires Casual fashion LOTD thoughts

I was triggered by a remark of my friend Cajsa on NWN earlier this week about so many blogs evolving around lingerie instead of clothing and while I don’t think she is entirely right -I do see way more blogs with clothes than without- one could definitely do by redefining clothing when it comes to SL. It seems that everything is more exaggerated on SL, the average avatar is way taller than the average human, females curvier and men more muscular than normal in Rl…, skirts shorter, decolletages deeper, heels higher etc etc. The line between outerwear and underwear is blurred. And then I wonder, when so many suffer from body shaming and dysmorphia, bullying low mental health issues, how come that in SL, an environment where we can be whatever we want, most choose by just exaggerating the RL stereotypes, as if we’re desperately trying to fulfill in SL the expectations we cannot in RL. I don’t know if that makes sense, I have the feeling I am rambling again, but yeah, I do wonder that sometimes.

I’m a firm believer that it’s way more alluring to hide your assets under stylish clothing than to have all your goods on display so to say. Maybe I am old fashioned and hopelessly showing my Gen X roots, but so be it 🙂 Besides, blogs with clothing are literally more substantial than clotheless blogs, if only in terms of credits!
