Closing

Yep, I’ve decided to close Grapevine. It was fun while it lasted, but truth is that I’ve been sans inspiration for too long and not really looking forward to get going again in an overly saturated market whithout an amazing idea to stand out from the crowds.

So what have I done. Here is the deal. All pose sets are set on L$ 150, that’s for a set of 10 and all mod/copy shapes are set to L$ 200 until my lease ends. Which I think is a pretty good price for both poses and shapes! When my lease ends, it will be all gone, and I’ll go back to the way I used to work before I started Grapevine, making shapes and poses and use them for my own fun, and occasionally on demand. I still love doing small custom projects and exclusives.

I have added a script to my vendors and all proceeds of the sets and shapes will go to Heart for Love.

So come grab some stuff before it’s gone!

PS. Individual poses are marked down to L$ 40. And I will make a donation of the equivalent of the sales on them since I cannot add the donation script to the pose stands

ICING is a dangerous shop. Not for the risk of hypothermia, but for the risk of bankruptcy. Miko Omegamu just always makes me spend money *shakes fist* . So I got home this time with her lovely basic Girl Friday, of which I’m wearing the top and the skirt. The jacket layer with the belt for he skirt I left off and instead I did put on the charcoal chrocheted shrug from Maria Gherardi. The belt I’m wearing, is from the black oversized shirt from Muism and the shoes are Verve, from Maitreya. I re-attached the ruffles of the top to my spine to be able to wear Icon’s latest release, the LF necklace, attached to my neck. Isn’t it a lovely piece? I really like their style. The glasses are from Le Petit Prince.

I’m wearing ETD’s Juliana in chocolate and the Grace freckled beta skin from PXL that just won’t come off of me lately.

Some content creators have been around forever… well… my forever. Simone Stern was an established designer when I came to SL and she’s still very much around. I don’t visit her shop often, but when I do, there is always an item or two that I just need to get my hands on. Like this lovely Annya dress. The silky teal texture just got to me and it has this cute safety pin brooch. I’m matching it with the Belle shoes from Shiny Things and the Whisky and Plum jewelry from Balderdash.

Esme is the lovely new hair that Kavar Cleanslate from Exile released earlier today and I am in love with it. And then, usually I don’t talk about my eyes. I’m pretty much exclusively wearing Miriel’s eyes anyway, but Camilla Yosuke from Insolence had a nifty eye idea and I’ve been using her HUD driven Eyelife eyes and I must admit, it’s a fun gadget. I recommend you check this video to see the details. And the skin is PXL, still in beta, but getting there. This is the freckled version I’m wearing.

A visit to Reale is always good for some new dresses with a high cute factor. Like this pretty green candy tunic dress. I’m wearing it with Michami’s beige Stella trousers and Decoy’s Mraz scarf in sand (made a bit darker). The lime Daring Pumps from Shiny Things match the green of the dress perfectly, and as finishing touch I picked the tiger’s eye Mala Meditation beads from Lucas Lameth Fashion Jewelry.

ETD’s Lannah in Elika’s brown is one of my all time favourite ETD hairs and today’s skin is from Truth’s Rejuvenate line: Viper, in kashmir.

What to Think of This….

Rezzable and Sweden based RL model agency Nocturnal have partnered to bring their models into SL. Now it is no secret what my opinion is about content creators using RL (celebrity/model) faces to make portrait skins with in SL. I think that lacks integrity because it is obvious that said celebrities and/or models have unlikely given their consent to be transformed into SL retail skins nor are royalties being paid for the use of their image. But this is different… in this case, an agency, which has the commercial responsibility for the models under contract, and an in-world organisation have agreed to use the features of the models to make content with and they have found reputable content creators such as Tuli Asturias and Aemilia Case to produce the avatars. The result so far is 2 models being transformed, the blonde December and the redhead Mary Mahem. Tuli has used high rezz images of the models to create the skins with and then has created 6 make ups for each which fit the character of the skin as well as the eyes. Aems has made 2 hairs for each model and they turned out really well.

So what do I think about these skins. They are Tuli quality, that’s for sure. And I also think she captured the look of the models really well. I also think that Tuli in her normal work, uses textures that have a more drawn look. These to me look more photo than what I’m used to when I look at Tuli’s work. And the models, well, they are lovely girls, but different than what comes to my mind when I think model in SL. That is more of the runway kind of model whereas Nocturnal seems to be more in the fetish/goth niche. It fits the Crimson Shadow theme perfectly. As for me… I still feel odd wearing a face that is so clearly belonging to another living person. I think I’ll stick mostly to skins that may have RL reference material, but are not made to actually look like a RL person. Although they look different already when I use my own shape instead of the shapes that come with the skins as you can see below

Each set consists of a skin, shape, eyes and 2 hairs and is available for L$ 2200 at Crimson Shadow

I like mixing old and new stuff in my outfits, although I admit, I had the pink version of Cake’s Autumn in Paris and I decided to go get the blue/slate one because I didn’t want to make yet another pinkish outfit. But anyway, the skirt would be the old in this outfit. New is the bodice, which is from Church of Luxe’s Cat Ballet outfit and the Mollify blue shrug from Nyte ‘n Day. The torn tights are from Canimal, the biker boots are from Redgrave. The arm warmers are Maitreya’s and the scarf is from Armidi, via shoparmidi.com. The necklace is Heartwood, from Lucas Lameth Fashion Jewelry.

My skin of choice today is Helsinki light, make up 6 and the hair is Antie, from Truth, in Ivory.

I couldn’t resist the 50% off sale at Aoharu, and i picked up this dawn jacket. I’m wearing it with the off-shoulder shirt o f Emery’s stay pretty outfit, and LeLutka’s black wool pants. The shoes are the Verve pumps from Maitreya. The colourful jewelry is from Freshly Baked Goods. The Paddington Tote bag is from Truth.

My country is having a winter like we haven’t seen in 12 years. No snow in my area but a lot of ice, and people are skating on the canals everywhere. Quite the nostalgic picture, really. Of course I’m in the mood for wintery stuff and this “fur” parka from BareRose just looked so snug. I’m wearing it with the white leather pants from Adam ‘n eve and the cerise Vidali pumps from Armidi. The scarf is part of ETD’s Davina hair, (in chestnut). Skin, again, is a cat eye beta of PXL Creation’s work in progress. I really love how this is developing.

It’s so incredibly cold here today that when I was putting on this outfit, I almost chose other tights than Mimikri’s black ajours. To think of bare skin in this weather… but hey… It’s SL, I could show off a bikini if I wanted to, so I kept them on, together with the debutante Genevieve sweater from Novocaine, and the black border fringe stole from Massimo. The old laced up boots from Shiny Things, although way pre-sculpt era, still rock, and I still wear them a lot.

The skin I’m in today is from Karamia (pale, sweet) and the hair is Exile’s Delta in sand.

Nyte Caligari’s Vestige skirt is so versatile that it has become one of the items in my inventory that I use most. Today I’m wearing it with the Dietrich vest of LeLutka and the blouse form the Bavarian Dress from Victoria V. To solve a severe case of EMS, I’m also wearing Michami’s white glam tank. I accesorized with the Long Drop Heart necklace in silver from Cailyn and the red linen stole mufler form Cream Shop. The boots are Jaywalk’s Melisande in Onyx.

The pretty skin is pin up from Soda, and the hair is Ginny, in Elika’s brown from ETD.

After all te holiday “violence” I welcome January as a calm month, to get back to my normal routine, to pick up where I left off when the December frenzy started. A comfortable and simple look is perfect for the wonderfully dull Sundays, which I have so dearly missed.

I started out today with the wonderful Makayla hair from Truth, in cranberry, which is vibrant as is, but I always like to ad a little fire to it by adding some plain orange. Then Hart was spamming me with PXL betas of the skin he’s working on.This is one of the much requested lips, wine, a luscious warm purplish red. The green Vnecknit sweater from DP YumYum, which I picked up this morning while TP-ing to get my CSR 2008 winter cards stamped (go for it, the gifts this edition are too cute) and the deep purple pants are a remainder of the holidays, being the pants from Casa del Shai’s Le Smoking Leopard tux (yes, for the guys.. but we pull it off better). Then, last but not least, the olive dune boots from Maitreya.

I’ve been working with Charron Marseille on some photo shoots recently and yesterday he suggested an outfit like featured in Ben Sherman’s 2008 autumn/winter collection. I’m pretty pleased how accurately it turned out with the crisp white Armidi Cambridge shirt, and Michami’s black Stella pants. Adding the black skinny tie from Muism, and the racer gloves from the Marilyn outfit from Emery, we’re getting really close. The black Mishima Dawn shoes from Maitreya are a stunning match with the real deal. Instead of the back pack, I went for the gym bag from LeLutka.

The hair is the smoked walnut GInza from Armidi, and the skin is a PXL Creations beta, so not available as of yet, but just the au naturel look that I needed to complete the look.

Bear with me as my PS is having some issues… won’t launch… at all ..and I cannot find the CD to re-install (yay for reorganising the attic), so I made this with The Gimp, and I’m so not used to that. Hope to be back to normal soon.

So since this is probably my last blogpost of the year: Happy and healthy New Year to all of you and your loved ones from my little corner of the world.

That being said, I started this outfit with the purple version of Michami’s Ida dress, then decided to wear the black Ida leggings with them, as well as the lavender shrug from Pixeldolls. The fishnets are from Awori Cassini. Do I even need to mention the biker boots? I think everyone knows by now that Viola Leigh makes killer shoes for the Redgrave label, and the jewelry is from Siyu Suen from Illusions.

My hair is Cleo, from Exile and my lovely Angel skin is from Adam ‘n Eve.
