Greetings everyone. When a couple of weeks ago I was talking to Neferia Abel of Ivalde, one of my fave vintage designers, she brought up her wish for Twiggy inspired poses for some 60’s and 70’s clothes that had been in her mind. Now Twiggy being kinda, err.. twiggy and her signature poses being quite extreme, that posed an extra challenge. I told you before that what looks really good and edgy on a RL model, can be awful in SL and make an avatar look horribly tortured. But in the end, I have managed to make some translations (there must be another word for that, but I just don’t know it) of some of her poses and put them together in a set called Bond Street.
As usual the single poses are available at Grapevine in Rue d’Antibes for L$ 65, and the set of 10 poses for L$ 500.

I made a composition to show them to you…. but I realised too late one pose is missing… There’s really 10 in the set.
Dress: Falling for Piet Mondriaan @ Marly’s
Boots: Blair @ Dela
Hair: 1984 in steel @ The Abyss

So… wanna see a really angry Grazia? Too late, I’ve cooled off by now, but when I read Laynie’s message about her shop being bugged by a bunch of people protesting against her and Teagan’s support of Autism Speaks, and as a result Laynie’s Vanessa dress being ripped off … trust me I had steam coming out of my ears.

First and for all because, like Laynie and Teagan, I do support Autism Speaks. I think it is a great cause. Autism speaks researches the causes and possible treatments for autism, and helps patients and their families to live their life to the fullest of possibilities. This is their mission statement:

At Autism Speaks, our goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism pectrum disorders. We are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. We are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals.

Autism Speaks aims to bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis. It is our firm belief that, working together, we will find the missing pieces of the puzzle.Autism Speaks.

It’s time to listen.

Secondly, I think ripping someone’s work in general, but especially to take revenge over someone you don’t agree with, is despicable and pathetic and it makes me want to throw things.

Laynie now put the dress that was ripped out for free. I went to pick it up, and while I was there left a donation at the kiosk outside. I suggest you all do the same and turn this into something good.

New @ GRAPEVINE

Some of you may know, that I have been doing custom shapes for over a year now, and since September I’ve been making poses on demand. I have never advertised this, nor had I ever the idea to market my stuff… but lately some friends just kept telling me that I should release retail stuff and finally I have yielded to peer pressure and now I’m proud to announce my own little shop “GRAPEVINE” in the marvellous sim of Rue d’Antibes. For now only a couple of shapes, more is in the making and I’m finishing some cute poses that should be out in the week to come. No big series, no massive releases, just some cute things that I love making.

Being the skin afficionada that I am, I aim for shapes that work with a lot of skins and test them extensively. I’m not a fast shaper, I can sit on a shape litterally for weeks, tweaking and fiddling and putting them away again, only to try to make them cuter and working better with a lot of different skins the next day.
Out now are 3 shapes that I made especially for Crys, Linda and Cloe skins by PXL creations. Since I really made them for these skins, I have not been testing them on all my other skins, but they seem to work quite well with other skins as well.

Also in the shop is a freebie for all of you who would like to get aquainted with my shapes. It is a shape that I have created originally for Fleur (former Tête à Pied) Boutique skins and offered to the readers of Second Style blog when I reviewed those skins, but after that, I have been playing around a bit and found out that this shape really works perfectly with a whole lot of skins.

Parfait is plump and curvy. Yes she has some bodyfat, and some junk in the trunk. She’s also not model height although according to RL standards she’s still pretty tall. Unlike the other shapes in the shop she is NOT modifiable. Now I do believe that people should be able to adjust their shape to their own ideas and taste, hence the other copy/mod shapes, but Parfait is my baby… my show case, and I like her like this. In the shop I have placed a slideshow under the vendor with some of the photos of the different skins that I tried Parfait on, and here below are some as well.

From left to right: Launa Fauna’s Chai; Celestial Studios’Vogue;Pixeldeep’s Lustre;PXL creations’ Crys;Nylon Outfitter’s Poppy black; Adam ‘n Eve’s Grazia; Naughty Design’s Zoe and Fleur Vivant Paon.

Pose Making Addiction

Yep.. the virus has hit me hard…. feverishly manipulating the 3D figurine to make more and better poses whenever I have a spare moment, the result being this first set that I am not totally afraid of showing to you (all 3 of you). And no, the pose I posted this morning is not in this set. I need to work some more on it and it will be in a next series of poses.

Ever since December 2006 I have been writing for Second Style blog. I love it, and probably will be blogging for a long time, but every now and then I would like to share some things with you that just are not appropriate on a fashion blog. Like for Instance the press conference with Bruce Willis which I attended the other day.

The guys at Silverscreen have really gone through a lot to recreate several spectacular scenes from Willis’ latest movie Live Free or Die Hard. It’s a great sim to do some heavy duty exploration as all over the sim you will find some awesome themed freebies made by Sachi Vixen and Damen Gorilla from Adam ‘n Eve. Who by the way also made the incredibly good Bruce Willis (Bee Dub) avatar.

But about the press conference. Timing was a bit awkward as Mr. Willis got stuck in the Los Angeles rush hour. So the gathered press, RL and SL alike, as well as some winners from a Bruce Willis contest first waited in anticipation for the actor to arrive at the venue where he would go live on stream to interact with the audence. This was actually quite a funny moment. A lot of the journalists from RL had never been to SL before and paniced when it became clear that moving around in SL is not quite what they expected.

SL resident: pls sit down
RL journalist: how?
SL resident: right click the poseball and choose sit
RL journalist: WTH is a poseball?

Things like that. After a bit it became clear that a little delay was actually quite a bit of a delay, and the audience started to be increasingly nervous. Some of them downright rude and pushy. Now you must know that 4:15 pm slt is actually 1:15 am for me, but I did not want to surrender to sleep and just kept talking with a couple of friends that where there as well. Finally Willis got on stream and the pressconference could start. Total chaos hahaha… people started shouting their questions… over and over again which were answered on stream (yep.. we actually heard Bruce Willis shouting Yippee Ki Yay and even sing a few notes for us). Unfortumnately lag took the better of me after a bit and in the middle of the Q&A my audio began to fail, shortly after which I crashed. When after several attempts I finally made it back in.. the Q&A was over.
