Happy New Year!!!

On the last day of the year I always tend to become slightly melancholic. I count my blessings and wait with anticipation what is to come next year. I remember the people that I lost during the year, and I am happy as a child over the new people that have come into my life. 2007 in Second Life has brought me a few friendships that are very precious to me, and a lot of new people that are just so much fun to hang out with. Thank you all for being you, and being here.

I wish all of you a very happy and very healthy new year. That being said I have put on Shai’s new Caroline Serpentine gown for New Year’s Eve. The blue one that I wear is not available. It is an exclusive colour that I found under my X-mas tree. The gown is available in the Casa in white, silver and burgundy. While trying it on, I was struck both by the loveliness and with the edgy design, so I tried two different looks on.

The classic look is made with ETD’s Roslin in smoke burnt which for me is one of the most classic hairdo’s available in Second Life. The skin is Crys smoke eyes and red lips from Pxl Creations. I love pearls and was delighted with the new strand I was gifted for my RL birthday the other week. In SL some of the finest you’ll find at Muse like the Margaux Draped Pearl necklace and the Celine pearl collection earrings. The shoes that match this gown perfectly are Shiny Things’Classics in blue sea (you don’t see them, but they are there)

For the edgy look I am wearing Gail hair in black by Gurl6, Linda natural smoke eyes from Pxl Creations, the fur collar that Caliah Lyon from Muse sent out as a xmas gift to friends (not in the shop), the exquisite blossom tatoo from Etchd and the unbeatable long black gloves from Tête à Pied. Finishing touch are the Black Thorn Earrings from Gothico.

PS. I am staying with edgy…. be nice to eachother ok?

Look of the Day

So the other day I was over at Little Rebel and other than the things I blogged on Second Style, I also picked up another slip dress, with this cheetah print that, when I bought it, I knew was not likely to wear much but… the shading on the torso is so lovely so I just had to have it. And since it is a pity to let cute things just sit in your inventory “just to have it” I started playing around with it and made an outfit around it that is actually very wearable.

Clothes:

  • Cheetah Teal Slipdress by Jonquille Noir @ Little Rebel, L$ 200
  • Maggie shrug by Janie Marlowe @ Mischief, L$ 110
  • Isabeaux black leather pants by Launa Fauna @ LF Fashions, L$ 200
  • Dare pumps in teal by Fallingwater Cellardoor @ Shiny Things, L$ 300

Accesoires:

Body:

  • Crys FashionEyes, IceLips, Brown eyebrows by Hart Larsson @ Pxl Creations, L$ 1500
  • Ginza hair in smoked walnut by Lola Marquez @ Armidi, L$ 295

Look of the Day

Today’s look is inspired by the unisex hair Alfred that I picked up at Truth’s earlier today. It set my mind to an ironic glam/punkish outfit, a bit gamine, androgynous, but oddly enough very feminine at the same time.

Clothes:

  • Ronja jacket in black from Antonia Marat @ Artilleri, L$ 150
  • Scottish fold blouse and collar from June Dion @ Bare Rose, L$ 140 (full outfit)
  • Red Skull Capris by Cyphie Zhong @ Diff!, L$ 75
  • Black Suede Boots by Bax Coen @ Bax, L$ 800

Accessoires:

  • Lady’s Hoop earrings in gold xl/stud 1 by Lucas Lameth @ Earthtones Boutique. I have not found them back at Lucas’shop so it could be that they are no longer available

Body:

  • Hair Alfred in sable (with hat) by Truth Hawks @ Truth, L$ 100
  • Skin Vivant Boudoir 2 in buff by CJ Carnot/Roslin Petion @ Tête à Pied, L$ 500

Look of the Day

The inspiration for this outfit comes from the lovely build that CJ Carnot made for the new Tête à Pied sim. It is a gorgeous french station, in the best neo classical tradition with high walls and ciseled pillars. As a matter of fact… I think it is the only space I know in SL where I am not that bothered with the sound of heels clicking, as your heels would make the same echoing sound in a similar RL station…. enough… or I’m going off topic. Anyway, it is reminiscent of the luxury train traveling of the 30’s, and this outfit matches the feeling of that.

The cloche is Siyu Suen’s entry for the EFA Design Awards that I fell immediately and madly in love with and the shoes.. omg the shoes… everyone has been drooling all over Stiletto Moody’s scultped shoes lately… but personally I was not that impressed when I saw them and I think the price is ridiculous. These are made by Storm Schmooz and they are at least as good as Moody’s and they cost only a fraction of the foresaid.

CLOTHES:

  • Femme en noir by Miko Omegamu @ Icing, L$ 295
  • Vanilla stockings by JW Russell @ Down Undies , L$ 75
  • Désir de Noir shoes by Storm Schmooz @ Storm Schmooz, L$ 300

ACCESOIRES:

  • Darling Cloche, hat by Siyu Suen @ Illusions, L$ 100
  • Margeaux white pearls by Caliah Lyon @ Muse, L$ 250
  • Celine pearl drop earrings by Caliah Lyon @ Muse, L$ 150 (2 sets)
  • TaP Heiress handbag by CJ Carnot @ Tête à Pied , L$ 200
  • Logo bracelet by Cora Lu @ Paper Couture, not found in the shop, possibly discontinued
  • White gloves by CJ Carnot @ Tête à Pied, freebie on the sim

BODY:

  • Skin: Vivant Buff Fleur by Roslin Petion @ Tête à Pied, sim opening skin hunt, not available after 18 December 1 pm slt.
  • Hair Abyss 1984 in smoke by Khai Sinister @ The Abyss , L$ 200

Holiday Formal

Sachi Vixen’s new formal releases for the 2007 holidays are truly gorgeous. The understated design (I like to think of it as fashion without bling), the soft textures that almost seem to glow and the exquisite prim skirts are enough to win you over, not to mention that every outfit comes in multiple skirt options, so fit for every occasion in the holiday season, except for long walks with friends in the winter wonderland. The Elan gown in silver forms the basis of this festive outfit.
In the spotlight Random Calliope’s jewelry. What this magician does with prims is really unbelievable. These are untextured and unscripted… just bare prims in their most gorgeous self.

Clothes:

Accesories:

  • Boa and gloves from the 2006 Limited Edition Noelle gown by Ginny Talamasca @ Dazzle Haute Couture, discontinued (tinted in a very light grey to match the silver of the gown)
  • Paillette evening clutch in silver by CJ Carnot @ Tête à Pied, L$ 100
  • Earrings beloning to the Ice Queen set by Random Calliope, L$ 1000

Body:

  • Vivant skin Paon in buff, custom version by Roslin Petion @ Tête à Pied, L$ 500 (regular single skins)
  • Ginny hair in nickel by Elika Tiramisu @ ETD, L$ 200 (naturals II pack)

Look of the Day

It’s a pattern…. have you noticed? I am hooked on plaid this season. And here is yet another plaid based outfit. I just think it is such a cozy yet elegant look. The skirt also comes in green, and when I TP’d back jusy now to check on the price I saw similar plain skirts too in white and deep brown. Very Lovely. The skin, although not yet released, is something special. For all you freckle fans out there, this skin has the softest freckles all over the body. Other skins I have seen so far don’t have that (unless they are mod and you use the system freckles)

Clothes:

  • Yumyum Check Skirt red by Toraij Voom @ DP, L$ 80
  • Blouse from Mars Outfit by CJ Carnot & Roslin Petion @ Tête à Pied, outfit L$ 300
  • Alizee shrug (tinted) by Ginny Talamasca @ LastCall, outfit discontinued

Windlight

I tried to download the new first look viewer today….. I can only hope it will take verrrry long to fix bugs and implement windlight. The previous windlight was no issue, but as the situation is now, that will be the end of my SL.

Business Managers

A lot of content creators have Customer Service Representatives, which I think is a sweet thing to do especially if a shop is big and you would be really searching for the product that you are looking for. In that case it is a very nice service to have an employee available to help your customers find things, to help out with easy issues and to give information on how to get the best possible service. It is especially nice when a content creator has the time filled that he or she cannot be in world him/herself.

Recently there is a development for hiring so called business managers. Obviously these are persons that have more influence than a simple (ahem) CSR, they may be even able to restart a sim, and do some blogging and manage the update group. Way to go. But they still have no access to inventory, they are still merely representing, not actually managing the business.

What I find totally lame though is content creators that actually refer in their profiles to their business managers, stating that for all matters regarding their business they should contact the business manager. That way they are reducing themselves to content creating entities and inventory givers only, they create a distance between themselves ad their clientele, and honestly… I think it is just plain arrogant. How important can you feel yourself that you shut off the contact with your clients?

Personally, I feel that a content creator who hides behind a business manager (especially when NOT squeezing out new stuff regularly) thinks he or she has better things to do than actually running their business, and so I am less likely to bring my L$ to their shop. They may be thinking they are doing a good job on service.. but for me it just feels the other way around. A big part of my shopping fun is also in the contact with the makers, to hear what drives them, and how they see things. If I am interested in your product, I am interested in you.. not in your business manager.

Look of the Day

This look popped in my head when I received a group message from Lyra Muse that she had some limited in time boots out at Last Call. They are very holidayish… with the white fur trim (the boots come in green, black and silver too) so I wanted to pair them with a slightly more day to day look.. after all.. we’re getting close, but it ain’t X-mas yet. Last week when I found the scarf and waistcloth at Creamshop, I just HAD to have them, but until now they were idling in my inventory. I think they are doing really well together, the boots and the plaids.

  • Amby Denim capri [dark] specialty by Ambyance2 Anubis @ Naughty Designs, L$ 125

Accesories:

  • Check Charm Stole (brown) by Sazae Yoshikawa @ Creamshop, L$ 220
  • Check Charm Waistcloth (brown) by Sazae Yoshikawa @ Creamshop, L$ 220

Look of the Day

I have been cold for days now, despite central heating and thick cuddly sweaters, I am just feeling cold. So that reflects in my SL and I am wearing quite wintery outfits lately. Besides, when everyone is putting out christmas decorations, I just think shorts and a t-shirt look ridiculous. Err.. on second thought.. that only goes for the northern hemisphere…. I don’t blame the antipods for celebrating xmas in their swimwear

Clothes:

  • Brown Pea coat by Donmai Frederick @ Back and Forth priced MORE than reasonable at only L$ 98
  • Hanna high waisted skirt (pants and prim skirt only) by Antonia Marat @ Artilleri, L$ 120
  • Black Tights by Blaze Columbia @ Blaze, L$ 100 for a bundle of 13 colours
  • Plain Riding Boots by Damen Gorilla @ Adam ‘n Eve, L$ 350

Accesories:

  • Funky Scarf Leopard by Antonia Marat @ Artilleri, L$ 75
  • Black Date bag by Nekoko Noel at Honey Kitten, L$ 150. It is mod so you can recolour the flower in edit linked parts. Of course I found out AFTER I took the photos.
  • Black Leather Gloves by Roslin Petion and CJ Carnot at Tête à Pied, L$ 100

Body:

  • Pandora Fall Diva Solstice in skin tone 1 by Sachi Vixen at Adam ‘n Eve, L$ 4000 for a six pack with multiple make ups and skin options (freckles, pubix, mani & pedicures, lashes, face light)

Je Me Souviens Trop Bien

Je me souviens trop bien… I remember too well… I remember too well your warm and witty personality, the talks we had while you were working on the Unique gown for Relay for life and how you told me you felt blessed to be able to give an extra bit to this charitable cause by creating something truly unique in SL.
I remember too well the fascination you had for France and french things, how you loved to live there. Oddly enough just as I learned about you passing away, I was litteraly leaving for Paris. Right now I am sitting in this small hotel in the middle of the Marais and it is so strange to walk through this city we both know and love so much, seeing the things that you have seen and knowing that when I come back tomorrow, I will not be able to share stories with you.

I am extending my heartfelt condolences to your family and friends and most of all to your love, who will have to deal with living without you in a home that is still breathing you. I wish them strentgh, and love, and the ability to turn their memories in a healing power.

Je me souviens trop bien.. mon ami, I will miss you.

Please Be Seated

Yours truly has been one lazy blogger lately, but that is because I have been spending quite some time making poses. Yeah that’s right… poses. I wanted to have some special ones for special outfits and I could not find them, so I finally decided to make them myself and it is totally taking me. It is so much fun. I have promised myself to do some reading to find out how animations work so that I can make a start with those too. And I do need to read things about it.. the few attempts I did without any back ground info really suck. Anyway, this pose I made earlier today and I really like how it has turned out.

Look of the Day

Happy anniversary to the Calla Ladies, Tigerlily Koi and Haedon Quine. I was over at their group preview party and grabbed some of their latest hairstyles. It was a fun, laid back afternoon with some of the most ardent Calla fans present. I am not hard core Calla… but I have always loved their work. My first “real” hair was Calla. So while I was checking out Lucerne, this outfit was kinda “born”. Roslin by Dakota Buck is one of the most stylish outfits available on the grid. I made the grey one slightly darker and paired it with the lovely Poet Blouse. To be able to wear both Fallingwater Cellardoor’s necklace and the neck ruffle of the blouse, I reattached the ruffle to the spine and adjusted it. Speaking of Fally… that new set she has out is truly awesome. With a click on the jewelry a menu appears and you can choose of 11 different gems for your set. Shoes and Skin are Tête à Pied’s. I love the meticulous prim work from CJ Carnot on these shoes. Mind you.. these are traditional prims, not sculpties and the skin.. do I really have to explain why I like it so much? It’s just delicious… the deep smokey eyes. Inspired after Shai Delacroix’ recent lingerie creation binge, but I just love it with real clothes on too.

Dress: Savvy? – Roslin in grey (tinted for a blacker look)
Blouse: Adam ‘n Eve – White Poet Blouse
Stockings: Down Undies – Fishnet stockings
Shoes: Tête à Pied – Black Mary Janes

Jewelry: Shiny Things – Nighttime Gems

Hair: Calla – Lucerne in Black
Skin: Tête à Pied – Vivant Buff Boudoir 2
