Jolie, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

Last night Iki Ikarus released the full batch of Jolie skins over at Dutch Touch. The Pip make ups were released earlier this week, and now there are more traditional make ups available as well. I know I’m repeating myself, but since Iki keeps amazing me with her mad skills, yes, this is the loveliest skin she has ever made. Jolie is available in 5 skin tones and 16 make ups per skin tone (and then all the options, 3 eyebrows, freckle/moles and normal cleavage/push up effect)

Below I’m showing you some unprocessed samples of the 5 skintones and some make ups.

Shannon Carroll, creator of the Coquette brand is preparing her Aurora II skins to premiere at Vanity Universe’s skin fair (November 7-22, 2009), but, to help out a friend who’s computer has given up, she has done a 1 make up pre-release in all four skintones. The pre-release will only be available til her friend manages to either repair or replace the computer, and will then never be sold again…. no time slot.. once it’s gone it’s gone.. so why not go over today, right?

A single skin sells for L$ 750 and comes with 2 cleavages, freckle options and 3 pubes options. The darkest tan is a litte too saturated for my personal taste, but the others look just so lovely that I can hardly wait to see the make ups Shannon is planning for this skin

The All that Glitters undies are also from Coquette and the come in a lot of different colours.

It’s been one of those weeks… so many new (to me) skins around. They all look very different on me, but they all have that “hot damn” effect.

First, there is Blowpop’s Elizabeth, 10 new make ups are available, in the 4 skintones. Elizabeth, for me, is a bit of an English Rose kind of girl. So rosy pale that she’s diaphanous. Every skin in this line comes with a subtle and a bolder make up. I must admit, I like the subtle make ups better on Elizabeth.
Then there is Très Blah‘s skin Girly Chic, shown here in tan, Cotton Candy. Being fully handdrawn, this skin may lack the realism some of you want in SL skin, but I totally dig this. It’s adding a lot of character to the SL avatar, and the mouth is just so kissable. I don’t give a damn that this skin has no private bits, as I heard some people complaining in the shop. If you go for that, yeah, then Très Blah is not your next favourite skin, but if you’re looking for something new in the drawn look skin tradition, Juliette Westerburg’s are so worth a go.
Last, there is Aimesi‘s Jezzy in Sun, face 5. She is such a beach girl. She’s all healthy looking and glowing. The body is not highly detailed, but it’s well blended, and seam free. I wish the nails on this skin were looking a bit better though… they are a bit blue-ish, you know… like when your hands get really cold.. but that doesn’t match the summer tan look of this skin. Other than that… really cute!

Other need to knows: wearing Tiny Bird’s Swirley hair in Brownie and Coco’s black Long sleeves sweater and PXL’s glow eyes Aqua large

Adam ‘n Eve: Amanda Autumn, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

I’ve briefly covered Amanda when I wrote about Adam ‘n Eve’s new skins for the skin & shape fair, but now Amanda is in the shop with 4 delicious autumn make ups (Berry, Fruity, Hazel & Ruby). I’m showing you skintone 2, there are 4 in total. I just went over to check out their rennovated skin section and couldn’t help but taking these home with me. The new skin shop is spacious. Previously it was huge but used to be a little overwhelming, because there were just so many different skins. Now Sachi has retired most of them, and the new lay out, with several niches for the various skin lines is such an improvement… Oh well, I’m rambling, I just wanted to share these pretty faces with you. The fat pack is yours for just 1800 L$ and comes with options… bewbage, freckles, hairbase, and all the mani/pedi for every make up.

I’m also wearing Truth’s Gabby hair in walnut, and Last Call’s Sally Trench dress (no longer available).

Dutch Touch skins, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

[update] ok… the 2nd from the right of course, is NOT Dune, that’s Cleo!! So far for late night editing… *shakes head*

The other day, I heard someone saying that the various Dutch Touch skins looked all the same… so I figured I’d put them all next to eachother so the differences can be seen.

I don’t think they all look the same at all. Yes there are similarities, which I think is normal, considering they are mostly hand drawn by the same creator, but they all have different characters.
Forest was the first of the new series of skins, and has a sweet, yet – compared to the later skins- a slightly less sophisticated face.
Dune was smashing, a very bold and strong look, pouty, a bit bratty and with eyebrows that stirred a lot of people.
The comments on Dune tickled Iki to create Mauve, still pouty, but in my opinion less bratty, because she changed the mouth and made new, more groomed eyebrows.
And then she released Cleo, which is also the biggest release, with her pipo, pip and punk series as well as a huge collection of “normal” make ups. The mouth is very different from Mauve and Dune, and also the nose and over all face shading has been altered.
The latest for now, River, is a culmination of sweetness for me, the mouth is smaller again than on Cleo, but friendlier than on Mauve and softer than on Mauve and Dune. River has also proved to be easier on a lot of different shapes than her sisters.

Ok, that’s it for now… xoxo!

Usually when I review a skin, I focus on what I like and will hint on flaws as a buyer beware. Like I’ve stated many times before, I blog for my own fun, and if I get all cranky from trying on a skin, I rather not blog it instead of being all bitchy on this webspot.

This will be a little different. A Lelutka new skin release divides the fashionista community. Either you love it, or you hate it, for various reasons, and to be honest, ladies, we’re not the most civil breed when it is about Lelutka skins. Various blunt to downright rude plurks were posted about this new release over the weekend. I’ve tried a demo, and I was not sold. But when I read Minnu made a special make up for the Typhoon relief, I went to pick that one up before  yesterday was over, since it was only available yesterday til midnight.

So, what to do with a skin that not immediately appeals to me, but so many people have an opinion on… it’s skin review time, and I intend to list exactly what I like and like not so much in this skin.

First of all, since most people think it’s the most important thing in a skin, the face:

I think the dark hair base is well done, but I’m not so fond of the blond one. It looks a bit frizzy to me, and the template seams show more on the blonde than on the dark scalp.

Maybe the most commented feature on this skin are the eyebrows. I remember long ago I was complaining to Aradia about the overly plucked eyebrows, and how I hoped Minnu would make them more up to date and more natural looking. Well… she may have a little exaggerated with the brow’s on Eclat. There is a difference between “au naturel” eye brows, and “never seen a tweezer in their life” Especially the dark eyebrows could use a little grooming, but all in all, I like the shape of the dark eyebrows better than the shape of the blond brows. Also, I would have loved to see the blonde brows less reddish, but that’s a personal taste.

A lot of people have also lashed out at the nose of this skin. And probably with good reason, since most avatars tend to have quite pinchy noses in my honest opinion, and Lelutka skins are generally known for having thin noses already. Yes, the highlights on the nose are a bit odd, but if you have a normal nose shape, I think the nose looks quite allright.

I’m not a big fan of the philtrum, which is too glossy for me. It reminds me of the shiny upper lip of the gen2 or 3 skins, but oh dear… do I love the mouth!!!! I seriously think this is one of the most luscious, sweet mouths around atm (although it looks better on  thinner lips than on the full lips and über pouty shapes you see on a lot of avatars.

The tendons on the neck are a bit of a weak feature in this skin and a huge contrast with the clavicles which look very good and realistic to me. Which brings us to the body… pics after the cut (more…)

Yes, there are definitely some skin makers around who have my special attention whenever they release a new skin line. Rosemary Galbraith & Mimi Coral are definitely among them.  I found Mimi’s skins early in my SL and have worn them ever since, and when Rosemary came out with her first skins, I was smitten with the cute faces. Ever since they teamed up, they have been diligently enabling my skin addiction with tons of make ups and vast ranges of skin tones. The latest in their collection is Daydream, in a whopping 11 (!) skin tones and so far 15 make ups and a bare version. They have tintable eye brows, so you can easily adjust them to your hair color of choice and there are freckles as well. The body has evolved massively since they released their Celebrity skin earlier this year. The body base, I think, is still the Celebrity base, but all of the hardness has disappeared, and the body now looks soft and feminine and very, very pretty!  Check the slideshow, there are some body shots as well!

Did I mention Cupcakes usually has great deals on their fat packs? A single skin retails for 1000L$, but the fat packs of 10 are 3k and the 5pack is 1750 L$! Not to mention the special prices on some skins and the frequent bogo and/or card sales that are randomly held and announced in the Cupcakes update group.

Other stuff: I’m wearing Fusemenlon’s Ladybug shirt, and Truth’s Madison hair in espresso.

Chai Nova: Zombarella, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

Launa made some awesome zombie versions of her Chai Nova skins for Zombiefest. in 3 undeathly decayed skintones, and in a bloody and an ermmm.. less bloody version. Personally I totally dig how the blood drizzles over the chin in the bloody version aaaaargh….. *runs of her life*

Other stuff: The eyes are from Toast Bard and came with the head off skin and the top is from Miel. The lovely messy hair is Jenna, from Exile

PXL Luthien, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

Inspired after the WoW Night elf chacracter, PXL Creations has translated the essence of it to the beautiful Kim base skin and made it into a beautiful fantasy skin, which was released earlier today. Luthien comes in 1 skin tone and 5 different lip colours. Every skin pack has the plain and the tattoo version of the skin.

It’s a must try, especially with halloween around the corner. it’s a great base for costuming! You’ll find PXL Creations on their own sim now, so update your old landmarks!

Cake Bella, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

Not at the skin expo… but absolutely worth mentioning… Stumbelina Ophelia, over at Cake, has a whole wall full of new yummy Bella skins. I’m only showing 5 of the 8 skintones, and 5 of the … uhm.. 20 or so make ups.

Slurl to follow once I can get back in world.

A quickie blog post to share some more of the skin/shape expo. Imandra Wycliffe, creator of [42] produces line after line of affordable, gorgeous skins. Fugue is the latest of them They come in some bold make ups, making these good for costuming, but also the natural version I’m wearing here is very pretty.
Next to that is skin no. 63 from D-skin. I heard rumours a while ago that DynamiteTanaka Payne had left second life, but this and other new skins from his hand at the expo proof those rumours wrong. D-skin has always made some of the cutest faces around, and no. 63 is no exception.
Heather Beebe from Rockberry is becoming a solid name in the skin market. After the smashing succes that Uma was, now she introduces Farrah. It’s a beautiful sophisticated face, slightly more mature than Uma, but absolutely radiant.
Last but not least, there is Orchid from relatively new skinmaker Myrtle Spyker. Her brand SkinTight is still quite new, but in this short time Myrtle has shown creativity and has been growing a lot. Orchid has an overall pleasant body and some really pretty make ups which, unlike some skins, work well with default lights as well. Also, her molten metal skins are really worth trying!

Belleza’s Tricky Boucher did it again. Last year he won me over with Bella, and now he releases Jesse at the skin/shape expo.  She’s gorgeous. I bought one fatpack when I was at the expo earlier, but while taking piccies, … I got greedy.. but now the expo is full and I can’t get back in for more!!!!! :-(. There are 2 skint tones available at the expo, this sunkissed, and a darker tan, I don’t even know right now how many make ups there are for Jesse, other than I bought make up 12-15, so there4 are at least 15 :-). It’s a must try, k?

I got the chance to visit the skin/shape expo today and while some merchants are still setting up, it looked very promising already. Thanks to the simple modern white build of the expo, everything rezzed pretty fast, and that is encouraging for when the expo actually opens.  I spent way too much on skin already, and if I have enough time over the weekend, I will share some of my thoughts on the skins and shapes on display, but right now I want to share Tuli’s newest addition to her skin range with you. She has teased us with it on the blog several times already, but now there is a fist release:  Bella Natural, in 5 skintones, 3 cleavages and 4 eyebrow colours and 3 additional make ups. Please click the picture to preview them all.

Skin/Shape expo opens tomorrow… don’t miss out!

Adam ‘n Eve, the brain child of Damen Gorilla and sachi Vixen was one of the major skin brands when I came to SL, now 3 years ago. Recently sachi  has been updating some of her skin lines, and also been making totally new ones. Her recent skins are easier to wear, they fit a way larger range of shapes than they used to do. At the skin/shape expo Sachi will release Amanda (set 2) and Desire, but if you can’t wait that long, you’ll find the first make up set of Amanda and Natasha in the shop already… and I just couldn’t resist putting Portia and Mei Li in here as well, because it shows so well how able sachi is to create various characters in her skins. All these skins are shown on my default shape which for the sake of comparison, I didn’t tweak at all.

Sometimes I think being a fashion blogger is one of the most gratifying things to do. NO!…It’s not about the free stuff. I buy most of the things I feature on my blog anyway. The cool part of blogging is when someone send you their new stuff and you recognise quality, but also still a lot of work to be done, and the content creator is actually appreciative of  your feed back, uses it, and contacts you after a while with new content that is like so much better that you get the blog itch and shove aside a few RL things to take pics and blog.

That is what happened between me and Kira Paderborn. A few months ago she dropped me a pack of her first Envy skin for blogging or feed back, which was really cute, but had still so many issues, that I didn’t feel comfortable about blogging them. When I see flaws and issues, I won’t hide that on my blog, because it would be a buyer beware of sorts, but I don’t like to write about flaws… so instead I wrote my feed back and shared it with Kira, who without any doubt will have swallowed a few times at my critiques, but then decided to actually use it and start on a second skin. The work in progess I have shared with you a couple of weeks ago, and now Eva is ready! And I love the final result… so feel free to click the pic here below to get a preview of all the make ups and skintones!

I’ll add the NSFW body pics after I get back from work later today. But let me finish with telling you that Eva will be released on Friday, September 25 in Kira’s shops Shapes by Kira and Corrupted Innocence, and then also at the skin/shape expo which will start on the 26th.
