Kira Ahn is on a creative binge… one gorgeous skin after another is being launched over at KA Designs. Vivienne is the latest addition to the line of Bardot Skins, and again… I just had to get myself a fat pack of them, simply because I couldn’t choose between all the singles.
I bought the pale fat pack… but the medium and (light) tan skin have different make ups!

Launa Fauna is rebranding. Chai will be transformed in L.Fauna, and with the rebranding, Launa is also releasing a new skin. I’m wearing the first one of what will hopefully be a long successful story of handdrawn goodness in a virtual world where ever increasing photorealism seems to have become the norm. It’s refreshing really: the softness, the sweet face even the lack of hyper realistic body details. I love this skin.

Tuli has released some new make ups in addition to her latest skin line Bella. I’m not going to talk yet again about the flawless bodies, and all the options these skins come with, but I’ll limit myself to just show you the various make ups. I like the paler skintones best for Tuli’s skin, so I’ve picked the pale ones for this post, with the light brows.

Well… a few weeks after Oksana and Jade, the first skins in the new Eclat line from Lelutka, came out, last weekend Minnu has released Estelle. And whereas neither Oksana nor Jade made me really happy, Estelle immediately screamed “Grab fat pack now!” to me as soon as the vendors rezzed. So I indulged myself and got the ultra fatpack in the light skintone. Estelle is also better priced than Oksana, at 1190 for a single skin vs 1500 for a single Oksana. Fatpacks retail for little over 5k in most skintones (7 make ups + base skin), and around 7k for the big fatpack for the light skintone (12 make ups + base skin) so they are a pretty good deal.
I’m still not feeling like writing a lot, probably because I tend to do a lot of that in RL already, but I will tell you that about everything in this skin is so much more appealing to me than in Oksana, maybe it is because the shading of the skin works better with the enhanced skin tone… but she looks just over all smoother and softer, a characteristic which I really love in a skin.
I noticed Gogo last week posting a preview and having some issues with the blonde brows in Estelle. Personally I don’t have that issue, at least not as extreme as it seems on Gogo. I think it is a matter of shape (size of the brow in the head features, as well as the general shape of the head and how the brow shape baldie works with that) so I’ve posted a pic of the various skin tones using the blonde brows. You’ll notice that, due to the slightly changed skin tones, the cleavage enhancers for Oksana will not work for Estelle, but Lelutka has new ones out for Estelle as well.

It’s been a while since Sachi showed me an early version of Sascha, but it got me greedy back then, and as today the message came through that Sascha had hit the shop, I literally TP’d in my undies to go grab the super affordable multi pack. Four make ups and a ton of options retail at 1800 L$. Do I really need to go in depth about how delicious and lush the body looks? And how much attention has been paid to the various make ups? Aaaah… a picture says more than a 1,000 words… so let’s pretend this is this a 2k word blog post, ok?
Go try a demo and check for yourselves. All of the skins at Adam ‘n Eve have unique characters and won’t make you look like yet another clone.

Beauty Avatar has been a presence for about 2 years in SL now, with a growing skin inventory and apparently a dito client base. I’ll be very honest with you all. It’s one of the brands I couldn’t care less about. The skins were totally unappealing to me, and so is their brand image… but…, credits where credits are due, their current skin Daria is fast becoming one of my favourites (ok… for what that’s worth, because I fave skins like a teenager has crushes, another one every week… or even multiples a week).
Seriously though, I’ve tried both their latest releases, Zeta and Daria, and whereas Zeta to me still has that sad, spoiled, face ( it’s the highlight on the mouth causing that expression) Daria is serene pixelfied sophistication. Yes, I’m in love… and if, like me, you never were a fan before… I can recommend you to go at least try a demo.

I find myself wearing KA Designs‘ skins more and more often. They have the right amount of realism and softness for me. New in the Bardot range is Agnes, with a gorgeous face on a stunning body. Seriously, I’ve been scrutinizing this skin, and there is literally 1 thing that I found less appealing to me… Agnes has a torn cuticle. Yes, the skin is that good, that my only issue with it is that she could use some cuticle cream… on 1 finger (ok… on both digits, but that is because the SL upper body template has only one arm to work with)
There are 9 make ups plus a bare skin in every one of the 3 skintones. I binged on the pale fat pack, which I think is not really pale, but oh well. Then they all come in 2 hair colours and a hair and non hairbase version. I know that, if you are a hardcore blonde, you couldn’t care less about the black and the brown hair/brow version, but for a chameleon like yours truly, it’s really value for money. There are also 3 hair pieces for this skin. They are done well, but I still think it looks odd on a hairbase. Maybe because I don’t really care for the hairbase option anyway.

I’ve blogged Launa Fauna’s Chai Nova skins before, they are lovely skins with great bodies in a smashing 9 skin tones. For Vanity Universe’s skin fair she has released her newest make ups Chairis. This line is all about the lips, strong, glossy colours, with relatively demure eye make ups. Chai Nova skins come in a normal and a freckled version, there is a cleavage enhancer on the underwear layer available, for those who want the push up effect. The wonderful think about Launa’s skins is that the lips are tintable. You can adjust and mix within the possibilities to personalise your lipstick, or to match it with that special outfit.

One of the skins I’ve picked up at Vanity Universe’s skin fair is the new Aden. This is the 5th generation of Aden’s skin and the 2nd which I really like. I’ve chosen the tan pack, because I have a lot of paler skins lately, and oh well.. they just looked yummy.
This skin has some things I’m absolutely in love with. I love the mouth, and the shading of the breast muscle. Yup… I do… I’m weird like that. But whereas the overall body work looks very pleasant, upon close up there are a few issues. There are some visible seams and the private bits are placed somewhat uhm… high between the legs. This skin will not ever be successful as a hand model, because of the nails. On the other hand (no pun intended), I really like the clavicles and the bum is lovely and it’s just a really pretty face!!
Aden’s Gen 5 comes in 4 skin tones and 5 make ups each, and a normal, cleavage and cleavage + option. They retail for 950 L$ for a single skin. Definitely worth a demo.

PS: I’m amazed at how well the lag is handled at the skin fair ground. I was there just now, there were 40+ avatars in the sim, I had my drawdistance set to the max, and everything rezzed fast and i was willing to move freely!! Kudo’s to Nadja and her team for this!!

Hart’s newest skin July, which will premiere on Vanity Universe’s skin fair today(12 pm slt), has quite a history already. I remember him showing me the first concept shortly after the release of Kim, early July 2009 (yes, she has this name for a reason). Hart had this idea of making the skin higher contrast, but without making it look hard or flat, or even worse, tacky. So again a lot of experimenting started, beta after beta….. and then it became silent around July.
There was plenty going on over at PXL: Hart has moved his shop to its own island, and has been developing a new vendor system, which is low prim, and low lag. I’m still pretty much in awe with it. For a skinner, prim limits can become an issue fast. Go figure… one skin line with 5 skin tones and around 40 make up options and fat packs and demos adds easily up to 220 prims. With the current system this is drastically reduced to only 3 or 4 prims per product line. With all advantages that come with that. But also, there are some nifty build in features, such as the possibility to create your own (discounted) fat packs or the possibility to automatically give your group members a discount and to send content as a gift. And did I mention these vendors are low lag as well? Oh well, back to skins, because how these vendors work precisely is still a mystery to me. If you want to know more, I suggest you drop Hart Larsson a notecard in world.
Anyway… a couple of weeks ago, Hart told me out of the blue that he had finished July and that she would be released at Vanity Universe’s skin fair. And this new skin is yet again, more smooth, and realistic than the previous lines at PXL Creations. I challenge you to find a seam, other than the itsy bitsy tiny one between two of the fingers. That is such an annoying bit of mesh, that I’m surprised there aren’t more there. The textures are all ultra clean, no smudges or blotches whatsoever. The over all result is just stunning.
[EDIT] When Hart read about the seam I have spotted between the fingers he was like.. “wtf.. I checked them all… can’t be!!!!” and indeed… I take the pictures with Caliah’s windlight settings, and there actually is a little rendering bug when you use windlight. On any of the default lightings, the hands are absolutely seamless.
As usual, Hart offers 5 eye make ups on 8 different lips, and shown here below, 1 special eye make up per lipstick colour (spring line)
Hart, congratulations, you managed to surprise me yet again!

Dark, liquid chocolate.. that’s the best way to describe skin tone 4 of Desire, the dark skin from sachi Vixen @ Adamn ‘n Eve. Today, following the release of the Amanda Autumn specials a couple of weeks ago, sachi has released 4 Autumn special make up for Desire. And whereas I’m normally not too fond of metallic lips, on a dark skin they just work! The eye make ups are fairly modest, but you’ll definitely want that, to avoid a make up overkill with the lips. After all, less is more… that goes for accessoires, but certainly also for make up.

Another brand that people who are not really into it complain over that “they look all the same” is Free Speerit. Remember a couple of weeks ago when I decided to post a comparison of the faces of the latest Dutch Touch skins? Well, I’ve decided to do the same with the currently available skins at Free Speerit, because I think Desidelia Vella is one of the more talented skinners in SL who puts in a lot of effort to make a highly realistic, yet smooth skin… not to mention some of the best bodies on the grid.
No seriously… if you ever want/need to get nude… Free Speerit has gorgeous bodies!!
Anyway… from left to right, there is Alice. One of the older skins of Desi, which were available already before she went on hiatus last year. Then she came back with the smashing Kimberly, whom she gave an entirely new body as well as a more sensual face (compared to alice, who is fresh, and more girly). Then she all surprised us with Fiona, a drop dead gorgeous dark skin. More of an Asian than an African dark if you ask me… maybe because there are a lot of yellow tones in the skin, and I have sen a lighter version which Desi may or may not want to put out eventually… I sure hope she will, because it’s just lickable. The discussions I have with Desi, most of the time are about the saturation level of the skin tones… whereas she tends to more saturation, like in Kimberly, I prefer a more desaturated skin tone, and I’ve found that in the Katherine pale skins. Yet another beautiful face, with a lovely bone structure, a bit sharper than Kimberly, more contrasted if you want to. And then I grabbed Elizabeth from the pay what you want wall, which is so pale, its almost translucent. And with the red lips… it’s a very dramatic look (you also get a blood crying version). But as you can see all skins have clearly the Free Speerit signature… but they don’t look the same.
All but Alice have tintable eyebrows and Fiona and Katherine also have a tintable hair base!

Earlier this week Ryker Beck released what she called the Oldies but Goodies make ups for her latest skin Lily. A series of make ups from earlier skins, now updated to fit this pretty face. They come in the normal and faded version, and with dark and light brows. To be honest, of most make ups, I love the faded ones best (shown below). They are so beautifully subtle, whereas the “full”version sometimes is a bit too much for me, but they work wonderfully with an evening gown.
