Happy Queen’s day! My fellow Dutch are going a little orange crazy on this day, which is the celebration of the Queen’s Birthday. I’m not likely to go into town today, but I figured I’d post this link to give you an idea what Queen’s Day in Amsterdam is like.

I’m wearing Nicky Ree’s Queen’s Day special Fiona in Orange and the oddly scripted but awesome looking Precious Queen crown, necklace and earrings from Alienbear. Odd because the crown comes with a built in heavy facelight, and the script is not really logical. Once you have figured how to turn it off it’s quite ok though, after all, with windlight who needs facelights anyway but to annoy your fellow residents.

I’m wearing Belleza’s Elle skin and fri.day’s Summer hair.

Happy St. Paddy’s day! I’m wearing this gorgeous St. Pat’s Clover gown from Nicky Ree, with nothing else but Tuli’s Eva (release date March 18, 2010 – skin tone 2, make up 8) and Truth’s Jocelyn in copper (color modified)

Not visible, but a handy styling tip…. Maitreya’s Lime slinky stilettos match the clover color perfectly.

Chalice Carling has issued such a lovely challenge, which totally appeals to my addiction of dressing up. You can read all about it here, but the long story short is… create 2 bridal looks, with stuff from your inventory, without actually using a bridal gown, So, without further ado… let’s proceed with the ceremonie For the church ceremony I have picked Lelutka’s white Leona dress and the short coat from Très Beau’s Winter Whites outfit. The necklace is Athena Crystals from Lucas Lameth and the simple white slinky stilettos are from Maitreya.

With my Maan Carmen skin from Dutch Touch, I’m wearing Tukinowaguma’s Bouquet SH In platinum, and I retextured the flower wrap for a more.. uhm… bridal touch.

I don’t think I’d ever get married in church, and I really can’t see myself in a battleship wedding dress… but this is actually something I might feel (somewhat) comfortable in .

Now a beach wedding… that’d be nice! Way more laid back and casual, and though I first wanted to put on some skimpy bikini, I turned out making an outfit which I think is actually very romantic!

Nicky Ree’s Summer breeze in Ivory, combined with the Silva veil, also from Nicky Ree, but with the white freedom flops from Surf Couture, because seriously… who is going to wear high heels on a beach wedding? I’m also wearing Zaara’s Parmini necklace and the Patra silver bracelet.

For this look I still went with Maan, but this time with the Fifties make up, and the super lovely hair is I’m a Romantic, from Lamb, in kitkat.

Slurls can be found here… live happily ever after, k?

Galatea

Galatea is an upcoming release at Designing Nicky Ree. It’s currently exclusively available to her group members, and tomorrow, August 13, it will be released to the public.

GALATEIA was one of the Nereides, fifty goddess-nymphs of the sea. Her name means either “the goddess of calm seas” from galênê and theia or “milky-white” from galaktos. Galateia frequented the coast of Sicily where she attracted the attention of the Kyklops (Cyclops) Polyphemos. The giant wooed her with tunes from his rustic pipes, and offerings of cheese, milk, and wild fruit. The nymph, however, spurned his advances and consorted instead with a handsome Sicillian youth named Akis. When Polyphemos learned of this, he fell into a jealous rage and crushed the boy beneath a rock. Galateia was grief-stricken and transformed Akis into a stream.
Some say, Galateia was the mother by Polyphemos of Galatos, the eponymous king of Galatia in Asia Minor. (source: Nicky Ree’s info note card, worth reading because it also explains the various combinations that you can make with the many options that Nicky usually offers)

As with all her designs, Nicky draws her textures from scratch, after thorough research and going through lots of illustrations and stories for inspiration. I wanted to include, aside from the gown and the silk option also a close up of the coral and the texture on the cape, to show the incredible details in the texture.
