New Releases @ Exile, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

Over the past few days Kavar has been releasing a truck load of hair for both men and women over @ Exile. I’m showing a selection of the ones I like best. I contemplated changing gender for the guy hairs, but, oh well, shrink the hair a bit, and it’s sassy short hair for the ladies, right?

Other assets: skin Estelle by Lelutka, blouse Hillany by Kunglers (will be out on December 4)

Well… a few weeks after Oksana and Jade, the first skins in the new Eclat line from Lelutka, came out, last weekend Minnu has released Estelle. And whereas neither Oksana nor Jade made me really happy, Estelle immediately screamed “Grab fat pack now!” to me as soon as the vendors rezzed. So I indulged myself and got the ultra fatpack in the light skintone. Estelle is also better priced than Oksana, at 1190 for a single skin vs 1500 for a single Oksana. Fatpacks retail for little over 5k in most skintones (7 make ups  + base skin), and around 7k for the big  fatpack for the light skintone (12 make ups + base skin) so they are a pretty good deal.

I’m still not feeling like writing a lot, probably because I tend to do a lot of that in RL already, but I will tell you that about everything in this skin is so much more appealing to me than in Oksana, maybe it is because the shading of the skin works better with the enhanced skin tone… but she looks just over all smoother and softer, a characteristic which I really love in a skin.

I noticed Gogo last week posting a preview and having some issues with the blonde brows in Estelle. Personally I don’t have that issue, at least not as extreme as it seems on Gogo. I think it is a matter of shape (size of the brow in the head features, as well as the general shape of the head and how the brow shape baldie works with that) so I’ve posted a pic of the various skin tones using the blonde brows. You’ll notice that, due to the slightly changed skin tones, the cleavage enhancers for Oksana will not work for Estelle, but Lelutka has new ones out for Estelle as well.

Last but not least I want to share the beautiful make ups of the light skin tone with you ladies. Which one do you like best?

Zaara: Kanti, originally uploaded by Grazia Horwitz.

OK, seriously… is there anything at Zaara Kohime’s shop that I don’t love? The answer is no! Whether it’s her clothing, or the jewelry, it’s always love at first sight. The latest addition to the ever expanding Zaara inventory is this awesome set of luxury lingerie, Kanti. It’s available in 6 colours, and comes on all useful layers.

Zaara was sweet enough to send me this sample…but I just had to go over and pick up the fat pack. This is the kind of underwear that makes me TP places in my undies 😀

Other assets: I’m wearing the new Estelle skin from Lelutka (suntan, make up 3), Truth’s Amanda hair in night and Artilleri’s Paula glasses.

Must have been 2 years ago since the first “prim” lashes entered the grid and how amazing it was that all of a sudden we could set the fugly system lashes to zero and wear something that definitely looked better.
Or could look better… because a lot of fashionistas still have massive trouble making the lashes look good. Part of that may be because they are just not that prim savvy, which after all is very well possible when you see the amount of bad fitting prims on outfits around (I recommend the Ivory Tower for basics on building for that), but it’s also cause by the fact that these prim lashes have a lot of alpha (transparency) in the texture, and always hover in front of your eyes, or, when you try to really attach them to your eyes, they will interfere with the mesh. Not to mention when you wear blonde hair which covers part of your face, that the lashes will flicker through because of the alpha interference issue.

So if you take a lot of pictures, you will keep adjusting and adjusting with the change of angle to make them look good (and oh will they look bad when you turn the other way around). But earlier this yeah Lelutka introduced their full prim Diva Lashes, 151 nano prims, a pain to adjust but once fitted, really awesome for pictures and the other week I discovered the “Real prim” eye lashes from Magika, with the same principle, full prim, but only on the upper eyelid, and “only”51 prims instead of the 151 from Lelutka. For me these are the perfect solution. I didn’t have to adjust them at all, I only moved the root prim a wee bit around (but I realise that, if your eyeshape is less mainstream, you will have to invest time to make these fit!). But once you’ve accomplished that then you won’t be annoyed anymore with the space between the lashes and your eyelids, or the lashes sticking through your hair.

I think these are a definite fashion must have. You’ll find them at Magika‘s skin section, upstairs

Shiryu Mushashi’s beautiful December Warmth houndstootch coat is the center piece of today’s look. Under it, I’m wearing the most basic clothing, Coco‘s turtleneck sweater (group gift) and Lelutka‘s black wool pants. The hat and fur muff are also from Lelutka, it’s a Le.Look exclusive. alaMood‘s Athshe earrings complete this wintery look.

Today’s skin is Beauty Avatar‘s Daria (natural 04).

Oh how I love my Sundays… my cuddly, curled up on the couch with a warm sweater and totally worn out jeans Sundays… or like in this look the striped v-neck tee from fri.day, the Jade’s slouching cardigan from LeLutka, the slate yoga pants from Surf Couture (50L$ Friday editon) and Maitreya’s new voluminous scarf with matching beach blonde hair. Today’s skin is Charlize V3, from KA-Designs (currently closed til November 7 for remodeling) and a manicure from PXL (naturel 3)

Hmm… not sure what exactly started this outfit… but I was fascinated with the Boon SLJ 761 short afro hair and it looks kinda hot with the (new skintone) dark coffee Jolie from Dutch Touch, which will be out soon.

I needed something to contrast with the hair and the skin, so I went over to Donna Flora and picked up the Karen set, of which I’m wearing both the blouse and the jacket. Squinternet Larnia, the creator from Donna Flora has made huge progress ever since I first met her, although it still irks me that some of the layering is not the most logical and that some attachments are not having logical perms. For instance, in a skirt, one part should not be only copy and no mod, while other parts are mod and no copy :-(. But anyway… that’s something for another time. The Karen suit is just delicious. Really well drawn, and with nice prim work.

For the pants I went back to the warm chocolate colour of Lelutka’s Kora pants, and to finish it off, I picked Maitreya’s Neyya toe cap buff shoes.

The earrings are *really* old and discontinued Lady hoops from Lucas Lameth, but I love them for their utter simplicity and classic look.

Oh my… this is so me.. RL me that is.. I love poncho’s/sweaters like this, that I can hide in, curl up on the couch with and loose myself in a good book with a pot of tea… so when I saw this new Lelutka release, it had written my name ALL over it and it begged to be the center piece of today’s look. I’m simply wearing it with a pair of good jeans (in this case Zaara’s Classic indigo) and J’s Long Boots.

Other than that, I’m wearing Artilleri’s Buddy glasses, Exodi’s Lily skin (Dove Fusion faded) and Truth’s Isle hair in barley.

Usually when I review a skin, I focus on what I like and will hint on flaws as a buyer beware. Like I’ve stated many times before, I blog for my own fun, and if I get all cranky from trying on a skin, I rather not blog it instead of being all bitchy on this webspot.

This will be a little different. A Lelutka new skin release divides the fashionista community. Either you love it, or you hate it, for various reasons, and to be honest, ladies, we’re not the most civil breed when it is about Lelutka skins. Various blunt to downright rude plurks were posted about this new release over the weekend. I’ve tried a demo, and I was not sold. But when I read Minnu made a special make up for the Typhoon relief, I went to pick that one up before  yesterday was over, since it was only available yesterday til midnight.

So, what to do with a skin that not immediately appeals to me, but so many people have an opinion on… it’s skin review time, and I intend to list exactly what I like and like not so much in this skin.

First of all, since most people think it’s the most important thing in a skin, the face:

I think the dark hair base is well done, but I’m not so fond of the blond one. It looks a bit frizzy to me, and the template seams show more on the blonde than on the dark scalp.

Maybe the most commented feature on this skin are the eyebrows. I remember long ago I was complaining to Aradia about the overly plucked eyebrows, and how I hoped Minnu would make them more up to date and more natural looking. Well… she may have a little exaggerated with the brow’s on Eclat. There is a difference between “au naturel” eye brows, and “never seen a tweezer in their life” Especially the dark eyebrows could use a little grooming, but all in all, I like the shape of the dark eyebrows better than the shape of the blond brows. Also, I would have loved to see the blonde brows less reddish, but that’s a personal taste.

A lot of people have also lashed out at the nose of this skin. And probably with good reason, since most avatars tend to have quite pinchy noses in my honest opinion, and Lelutka skins are generally known for having thin noses already. Yes, the highlights on the nose are a bit odd, but if you have a normal nose shape, I think the nose looks quite allright.

I’m not a big fan of the philtrum, which is too glossy for me. It reminds me of the shiny upper lip of the gen2 or 3 skins, but oh dear… do I love the mouth!!!! I seriously think this is one of the most luscious, sweet mouths around atm (although it looks better on  thinner lips than on the full lips and über pouty shapes you see on a lot of avatars.

The tendons on the neck are a bit of a weak feature in this skin and a huge contrast with the clavicles which look very good and realistic to me. Which brings us to the body… pics after the cut (more…)

I’m wearing Madsy’s lovely Peplum skirt (creator Kimberlee Miles), which has a really awesome use of the system skirt with the black halter vest from fri.day (tinted slightly darker to match the skirt). With that I’m wearing the white Dietrich shirt and tie from Lelutka (of which I honestly don’t know if they are still available) and Insolence’s Lea fishnet stockings (from the cat suit set). The rose earrings are from LaGyo. and the wide waist belt is from fri.day (seriously, belts like that are fatpack material, you can combine it with every outfit, so getting all the colours is worth the investment). The walking cane (and pose) comes with Anamations Cane A.O

I’m wearing Dutch Touch Cleo Cream Pip2, Chai’s pretty brown eyes and Atomic’s Gwen hair.

Going professional today, even though the cute Christy skirt from Skin Flicks is too short to fit the proper definition of office/business attire (which would be knee length, or just above knee). But since I’ve got the legs to pull it off -in SL at least- I picked it anyway to go with the Dietrich shirt from Lelutka and the beige houndstooth Metro jacket from Bijou. I’m wearing the black nylon tights from Sheer and the Pearl and Chain belt from Ume. My glasses are from FNKY and the earrings are Exodi’s Bailey’s pearls.

I’ve picked Cupcakes’ Seduction in Wheat (Girly make up) and Lamb’s Unbirthday chignon in Butterfinger to finish the corporate look.
