Rezzable is organising another one of their fabulous fashion events, this time at their only remaining sim Greenies Home. As I write this the opening show is well on it’s way. I’m not good at fashion shows, my computer crashes too easily, but I am lucky enough to have these gorgeous pieces from alaMood and Rebel Hope. Jori and Rebel have worked together on this galactic regal outfit.

It’s a 2010 Future is Now exclusive, so after the event is over, these will not be found in the shops. Jori made the awesome headdress and the choker, and the amazing dress is Rebel’s work. Make sure to visit because aside from Jori and Rebel a whole list of other wonderful creators are participating.

I’m also wearing Lelutka’s new skin Ife (light make up 4). Planning a blog post about what I think is Minnu’s most pretty skin so far, later this week.

miskat

Yesterday I received an invitation from Miskat to come take a preview at his exhibition, which will open later today and it’s such a fascinating place. Text and photography mix in an all surrounding experience… Besides it being a very personal story which combines the human and the avatar,  it shows a wide range of the best fashion, skins and male avatar appearance in general. Style Notes are available. The show also displays the power of emoting.  It is one of the better examples how to get true emotion and expression in virtual imagery. Miskat Qinan’s first exhibition in Second Life is hosted by Cybernetic Art Research Project CARP/Diabolus at the Camera Obscura Gallery. As usual with CARP/Diabolus Miskat’s work will be exhibited in a spectacular way.

I found it to be very intrigueing and I can recommed you to go take a look.  You’re all more than welcome at the official opening at 2pm SLT.

Exhibition runs from 18.04.2009 till 02.05.2009

Launch: 18.04.2009 2pm SLT

Music: DJ Dex Chaffe

Dresscode: Black&White Black Tie

Location: Camera Obscura Gallery (CARP/Diabolus), SLurl: Jourdain (139,36,201)

Please note, although not a explicitly sexual or violent topic, the exhibition has a Mature rating.

Look of the Day, February 1, 2009

Happy February, everyone. Have you noticed how the days start to become longer already (and for the anti-pods, how they shorten)? Last week was the Amsterdam Fashion week, perfectly timed with the Paris fashion week. My Cod, how could they think they can ever compete with that? But anyway, EFA teamed up again with a RL content creator to bring you the second edition of the RL/SL fashion show from the Beurs van Berlage in our capital. Kudos for the SL creators, because every single one of them made creations that, to me, looked beter than their RL counter parts. Like I said earlier this week to a friend, I wonder what would happen if EFA for next year would find a real Dutch fashion designer like Mart Visser, Daryl van Wouw or maybe even Victor and Rolf to work with. Now that would be a whole other challenge for our creators.

Zaara participated and made this lovely Kera Top, I’m wearing it with my favourite black Stella trousers from Michami and the Blackberry Frenzy shoes from Maitreya. The bangles are from Icon. The hair is the latest release from Lamb! Skin today is Desire, from Adam ‘n Eve and the manicure is from Petit Ange.

[EDIT] I should sleep more… it’s the 19th today… so… grab it while you can…. til tomorrow that is

Wow! Last week literally hundreds showed up at my tiny shop to look for the red stick with some free stuff that I have hidden in there. I have talked to so many of you and it was so nice to hear how much fun it has been, and how people have discovered content creators that so far they didn’t know at all, or never thought made things that they would like.

Anyways, it’s the 20th today, and that means that this will be the last day that you can hunt for the sticks gridwide and collect litterally tons of free stuff for your entertainment.

I would like to thank Laynie Link for the incredible amount of work that she has put into this and I hope her days as a volunteer at the RL festival in Baton Rouge have been as much fun as the whole experience in-world.

With all the attention RFL is getting (and I’m very glad it does!), you’d almost forget that within our community there are more initiatives to support and aid residents who have serious health issues in RL. Yesterday friend and photographer Rob Danton pointed out the Dreams Community Fair, which runs til April 25. It’s a fun site, with rides, info booths, some pretty nifty builds and some really fun freebies.

This is from their own introductory note card:

“For the third year in a row, we are inviting you to be a part of our effort to introduce the people of SL to some of the lesser known areas of Second Life, particularly in the areas of health support, education and the Arts.

The Dream Travelers of Dreams are the activity base and support group for a community of stroke survivors in SL as well as people who are interested in Asperger Syndrome and Autism.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?* We will have booths and tents available to groups to show off their organizations through their products, information sheets, landmark givers, etc.. * Each group is encouraged to schedule at least one activity during the fair to be held on the Dreams Fair grounds. These activities can take the form of:
– Classes
– Discussions
– Meetings or Group Activities
– Group Recreational Activities such as dances and competitions.
– Story-telling, poetry readings, art demonstrations, ballet, live performances, concerts, etc.

We have three art barns to hold various forms of art. This is a Fair to show the diverse range of groups available in SL not products. However, we do encourage the groups to give our free items to the general public.
If you feel that a group you belong to should be involved in the fair then please let us know!! everyone is welcome in the community project!

We would love if you would display the sign included in this info folder on your property this would help us immensely in getting the word out about the fair!
Thank you very much.We will look forward to seeing you at the Fair!

The Sojourner, minxeh Volos, SamBivalent Sporkand the rest of the Dream
Travelers”

Go take a look, you might be surprised!

Hey people… there is a red stick hidden in my shop throughout this week with some new stuff. Come and get it. Go the the Red Stick International Animation Festival HQ to pick up your list with participants and gear up for some serious hunting. It’s huge… over 50, shops grid wide, are hiding red stick(s) in their shop with free things. The hunt was supposed to last this weekend only, but since it became so big, and you do have Real Lives too… it will be on all week long.

So while you’re there.. try some of the new poses that I’ve uploaded. The grid has not been exactly stable… so photos will follow through the weekend, but there are some new poses that I am pretty proud of, including some crouches that I made upon request of my friend Carl Crabe that were used in a group photo for the skin fair closing show. As usual, singles are on sale for L$ 65, and the set for L$ 500 (buy it from the “new”prim above the vendor)

The opening of Rue d’Antibes was a huge success, the sim was packed… the limit was even raised to 60, and still it was packed all day long. Thank you all for joining us there.

Downside to the festivities… SL has been wacky again, and many of you have not been able to pick up the freebies or enjoy the sales. So our gracious land lady has suggested to leave the goodies and sale items out til Tuesday. A request I am more than willing to adopt.

So, til Tuesday, my dollarbie pose set (poses shown above) for the grand opening of Rue d’Antibes is still available in front of the store. As a matter of fact, I have just marked the pose sets (sets only) down to L$ 250. That is til Tuesday 9 am slt, or any time after that when I have the time to get in world. The lowered prices will not apply for gift cards that you may have received during the opening festivities.

Today, after having postponed once before, Rue d’Antibes, the charming commercal Otherland sim, built by the über talented (and ever crunchy) Barnesworth Anubis, wil be officially opened. Most merchants will participate in the opening with a sale, or some freebies, and random goodies will be dropped on the visitors during the party that is going to have two time slots – one from 11am – 1 pm SLT and another one from 4pm-6pm SLT. The sim manager plans on being there during the gap to do random giveaways to customers in the sim. I have donated some L$ 500 gift cards for that purpose.
Yours truly retired the freebie Parfait shape, as I told I would, but for this weekend only I have put out a box with a Rue d’Antibes Opening mini pose set for only L$ 1. It is just outside the shop. And it will be there only for this weekend. Later next week, it will merge with some other poses in a full set and they will be available separately for L$ 65 and in a set of 10 for L$ 500

Skin Fair 2008

My friend and awesome photographer Carl Crabe by now is fully stressed out from getting 68 skinmakers to set up their booths in time, staying within prim limits and using the smallest possible textures to make it possible for YOU, the skin lovers around, to visit this first ever skin fair in SL and it is going to be awesome. Established and new skinmakers alike will showcase a plethora of amazing skins. Some of them will have some novelties to share with you, so make sure you do visit the event. Big hug for you Carl, and of course for the people who worked with you on this.
Now, no worries, you will have plenty of time to go there, as it will run for over a month, but still I would like to extent a heart felt reqest to all of you… when you visit the site, please do not load yourself with prims, ao’s, bling (yes.. ppl still use bling), and other scripted, lag inducing thingies. The orgainisation and the creators have done their utmost to limit lag, please show respect by doing just the same.

A couple of weeks ago Anita Cassini from IBM contacted me and asked me if she could use an old photo that I published more than a year ago on Second Style blog wearing Nicky Ree´s Snow Princess gown. Fleur

Last Sunday Roslin and CJ re-opened their sim with a smashing Casino Royal themed party with lots of goodies on the TOS compliant roulette table. Even though my crappy and very lag sensitive computer made moving hard for me, I had a great time. No wonder, because the party took place in the newly build shop. It’s only a few weeks ago that CJ outdid himself on the railway station, which I loved and hate myself for not taking a good series of photos of it while I could, but this new build is truly grand. CJ got inspired by the Raffles hotel in Singapore, which in hospitality business is still an icon. I really think CJ is one of the most amazing builders in SL. This new build does also justice to the new location, as the sim was moved next door to Tropical Orchid, Nicky Ree’s sim. These talented content creators are neighbours now and we can probably expect some nice collaborations in the future.

On the occasion of the re-opening of Fleur (formerly Tête à Pied) Roslin and CJ released a new skin in their Boutique series: Shouju. A high quality, no seams, no blotchy details anime inspired skin that you’ll also love if you are not into anime/manga or that kind of stuff. Comes in 2 light skintones, the porcelain Lily and the slightly pinker Lotus and in 6 delicious make ups. The body is everything you may expect from Fleur skins. OK. just wanted to share this with you before I run off to work and drag myself into my every morning traffic jam. XOXO

PS sorry for the poor lighting on the body.. I just could not get it right last night

Today was the Relay for Life Midway Fair. Half way through this year’s campaign we are now at a striking 20 million L$ (over 80k USD). Most of the RFL support teams had booths or plots set up at one of the 4 available sims, and as soon as the event started traffic was so high. Within one hour the Relay Cure sim crashed.

My team, Shopaholics for a Cause/Cure, was offering tarot readings but the start was so stressfull. The readers could not come in because the sim was full, and one of the 2 that eventually did make her way to the venue kept crashing. Luckily later everything settled down more or less and we could all enjoy the fair.

I could attend only a small part of the event that took place from 1-9pm SLT, as the main part of it was in my night. But it was so much fun seeing everyone looking lovely in gypsy wear. So many wonderful, funny, colourful, sexy people all together raising funds for fighting cancer. It’s just an awesome thing.
Thanks to all my wonderful friends for making this event so succesful and fun. You know who you are!
Now we should start making a serious planning for an event at the end of June/beginning of July. We have found several content creators willing to make one of a kind items that can be auctioned off, and whilst I am not yet relealing any names, I can reassure you that they are amongst SL’s finest designers!
