Autumn has made some lovely styles to share with you on the occasion of hair Fair 2009. Let me present to you, from left to right: Gattina.. the inimitable can curler trailer trash chic which is secretly being admired for quirky cuteness even by Rodeo Drive shopaholics (shown in café au lait, my favourite Tiny Bird colour). Then we have Janie, which is more girl next door-sweet and cute-  and soccer mom, and if there were not a couple of strands being a little frivolous, I’d say even a wee bit Stepfordish (shown in Buttermilk). Third in the row is Hayden, which made me want to put on some elven ears and take off for Avillion. It’s a lovely, fairy tale like do, with the braid over the front and the cutest hairline on the fore head (shown in ginger, a red I really like) . And then there is Swirly… aaaah.. what can I say… Janie’s mundane sister, who will not hesitate to wreck your home if she fancies your man. Voluminous, sophisticated, Swirly is impeccable.. and lethal (shown in Dragees).

Hair Fair 2009 opens to the public tomorrow. Find Tiny Bird at: http://slurl.com/secondlife/HF%202009/214/97/22

Other NEED to knows: skin Forest from Dutch Touch, shirt also from Dutch Touch and the eyes are from Shine.

Intemptesta Nox

intemptesta-nox

Many of you will be familiar with the work and the sim of Sue Stonebender and if you’re not, it’s high time do get to know this remarkable lady. Known for her pianos, the music sheets,  her exquisite jewelry, the furniture, the beautiful builds that she has shared with the community, the synergy she has with her long time SL partner and builder extraordinaire Baron Grayson, but most of all,  her altruism. Sue is one of the most giving people in SL that I know, and her initiative “The Giving Tree” has provided many people in 3rd world countries, trough Kiva, with micro loans for their businesses and intitiatives to make a better future for themselves and their families and their communities as a whole.

Last week Sue sent out a message to her group which can be resumed as follows: Health issues and economical circumstances are  being increasingly difficult, and make being in SL and being active in SL  harder and harder for Sue. That’s why she’s selling her sims and will consolidate her business with Baron’s on his sim The Nameless Isle. Both Sue and Baron will be focussing on RL artistic projects and will be further reducing their time in world.

While I’m happy for Sue that she has new things to focus on in RL, and she herself describes these developments as ending things and growing in different directions to start other projects and heading to a healthier place, I a sorry to see a long time content creator and pretty amazing person move away from SL.  The giving Tree will move to The Nameles Isle as well, and Sue vowed to keep that going as long as she possibly can.

Last night she sent out another note to the group about the 30 hr famine. Read Sue’s message, please,  and if you can, go to Intemptesta Nox and donate to the apple tree  in front of the shop and make this happen.

“More than 26,000 children under the age of 5 die every day, most of them from preventable causes, including hunger.

The 30 hour famine is a quest to raise both awareness of the great and ongoing need to work toward ending poverty, as well as an opportunity to gather additional resources around families in need. Because of my illness I am not able to do the fast for 30 hours.  My 14 year old daughter has offered to do it in my place, and I love her to pieces for it.

Tonight I am reaching out one last time through the Giving Tree space before it disappears from the Intemptesta Nox SIM, which is about to transfer to it’s new owner in the coming week.  If you would like to join me in putting a little something in the cup for the 30 hour famine, I’ve turned the apple tree directly in front of my shop into a special new Giving Tree, allowing you to put in any amount you wish.  Just touch the trunk and you’ll get a menu allowing you to make a donation.

No amount is ever too small.  It all makes a difference!  The money will be sent on to World Vision as my daughter starts her fasting in the morning and goes through until Saturday afternoon.

Thank you again for the great generosity that so many of you have continued to show through the Giving Tree program.  It has been the greatest blessing I’ve enjoyed in my time in Second Life.

Namaste,

Sue Stonebender”

The goals is 100k, which equals more or less 380USD, and that, amazingly so, is sufficient to feed a whole family for a year!!! But more is better, and I’ve seen how much we can accomplish in little time when we all care enough.

Today’s look is “build” around the glasses and the cardigan that Antonia Marat offers as a welcome gift to the members of her update subscribe- o- matic. Antie used to have a regular SL group for her shop Artilleri, with over 3,000 members, but it got eaten by SL, and LL for now has no idea if they are ever going to be able to bring that group back. So, to help get the word out: GO TO ARTILLERI AND SUBSCRIBE!!!! No really…. Antonia is a doll and it really sucks that after 3 years she has to start all over with what basically is her recorded client base. And of course, the welcome gift is just plain cute! I’m wearing the gift cardigan with a high waisted skirt from Whippet & Buck, currently available at Savvy?, of which all proceeds will go to the Victorian Bushfire Relief fundraiser. The scarf is Mraz Midnight from Decoy and the shoes are Armidi‘s Dalhia pumps in Cerise.

I’m wearing Truth‘s Antie hair in smoke (sale til February 25!) and the pretty soon to be released Grace skin from PXL Creations.

Been feeling blue lately,so eventrually that reflects in my clothes. Quite litterally today I’m afraid. I’m wearing the skirt from Savvy?’s Regina outfit (currently all proceeds of Savvy? are going tothe Victorian Bushfire relief fundraiser) with the top part of CKSD’s essential sweater dress in sky and accesoirizing with the Aemilia necklace of W&B (available soon) and Fleur’s midnight leather sash belt. The simple blue pumps are from Blaze, the fatpack of these should be a basic in every girl’s inventory since they cost only a fraction of what other, more advertised, sculpted pumps cost.

I’m wearing a splendor skin mod that Ana Lutetia made, I heart that lady, she’s so sweet. She has put these skins up for for the Victorian Bushfire Relief and the hair is Victoria, from Truth, which is his contribution to the same fundraiser

With all the attention RFL is getting (and I’m very glad it does!), you’d almost forget that within our community there are more initiatives to support and aid residents who have serious health issues in RL. Yesterday friend and photographer Rob Danton pointed out the Dreams Community Fair, which runs til April 25. It’s a fun site, with rides, info booths, some pretty nifty builds and some really fun freebies.

This is from their own introductory note card:

“For the third year in a row, we are inviting you to be a part of our effort to introduce the people of SL to some of the lesser known areas of Second Life, particularly in the areas of health support, education and the Arts.

The Dream Travelers of Dreams are the activity base and support group for a community of stroke survivors in SL as well as people who are interested in Asperger Syndrome and Autism.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?* We will have booths and tents available to groups to show off their organizations through their products, information sheets, landmark givers, etc.. * Each group is encouraged to schedule at least one activity during the fair to be held on the Dreams Fair grounds. These activities can take the form of:
– Classes
– Discussions
– Meetings or Group Activities
– Group Recreational Activities such as dances and competitions.
– Story-telling, poetry readings, art demonstrations, ballet, live performances, concerts, etc.

We have three art barns to hold various forms of art. This is a Fair to show the diverse range of groups available in SL not products. However, we do encourage the groups to give our free items to the general public.
If you feel that a group you belong to should be involved in the fair then please let us know!! everyone is welcome in the community project!

We would love if you would display the sign included in this info folder on your property this would help us immensely in getting the word out about the fair!
Thank you very much.We will look forward to seeing you at the Fair!

The Sojourner, minxeh Volos, SamBivalent Sporkand the rest of the Dream
Travelers”

Go take a look, you might be surprised!
