I heard about the BBBC 2009 on plurk…and decided to join. More info about it you’ll find here, on Alicia Chenaux’blog. I have decided to go with the suggested topic for the first post in this challenge: How long have you been a blogger? How has it enriched your life?
Well, it was late November 2006 that I read message from Celebrity Trollop on Second Style that she was looking for new writers for the blog. I was pretty new to SL then, but fascinated with the various aspects of fashion in this virtual environment. So I sent her a message, and on December 1, 2006 I shared my first post with the readers of Second Style Fashionista. Uncertain at first, not able to even create a simple t-shirt, why would I dare to write reviews on SL fashion? English is not my native language… would it be good enough to write in? But in RL I have worked with my father, who was in the fashion industry before retiring last year, and I’ve been visiting the major fashion fairs in Europe ever since I was 16 years old. I’ve never had the ambition to follow in his footsteps, but we share a fashion for design and quality clothing. I decided that was justification enough to take my first steps in SL fashion blogging. And as far as my English is concerned… well… I think I’m doing fine.. and nowadays there are so many non native speaker bloggers anyway.
I was an avid reader of the few blogs that the fashion scene had back then. PXP, Linden Lifestyles and Second Style being the big ones, and at first it felt just plain good to be a part of the community of witty, quirky people who back then put a pretty heavy stamp on what was hot and not in SL. But what blogging has really brought me (aside from a huge inventory) are some pretty awesome and genuine friends. People like Roslin Petion, Sachi Vixen and Shai Delacroix I’ve come to care for as if they were my friends living across the street. Catero and Ryan, my former “colleagues” from Second Man, they are dear to me beyond SL. And then there are people who I got to know when they just started out designing in SL, like Lucas Lameth, my style guru and perfect companion on many a shopping spree, Dakota Buck, that wonderful, sweet, opinionated kick ass textures girl who just started a whole new designing chapter with her best friend Twiggy Whippet and Truth… eternal and extremely talented badass stinker.. one of my dearest buddies, who has never let me down. I love them all. And of course Samara Barzane….. one of the sweetest and most genuine people around… my SL sister, even if I don’t believe in SL family ties. She’s the exeption to the rule.
You know… one of the things I hate about the Academy Awards are the eternal speeches full of credits… but really.. in this case I don’t know where to stop. Blogging has been a way for me to make new friends, something which in RL, due to my extreme shyness isn’t always easy for me, and even if I haven’t mentioned you by name here… you know who you are ❤

I enjoy reading blogs, and I enjoy getting to know new designers through the blogs of fellow fashionistas. Like Elemiah Choche, covered a few weeks ago. The post made me put her shop on my to-do list and I bought some of her designs. I think we have a talented new designer here. She really makes cute things. Talented.. and also a tad arrogant… not open to feed back.. and not living up to promises…..
O.o… Grazia is starting a rant? Uhm.. yes.. I suppose you could say that. What happened… I saw this really pretty lace dress… called accurately Pretty. Look.. this is a shot of the vendor in Elemiah’s shop. Cuteness….
But this is what I saw once I put it on… oh rage… o désespoir…. such ugly seams on such a pretty dress. In shock I IMmed the creator, as well as the blogger. Blogger in shock too.. she in fact had not noticed it because she had been covering another outfit, lacy as well… but in a grey colour and thus less visible. And then the creator came back to me…. No no.. it was not a flaw.. it is intentionally with the holes under the arm… and she had not had any complaints of many other customers. I told her I could have understood that if the front of the seam was sculpted like the back of the seam, but that this looks to me like a ready made texture fit on the template. So she said she’d add a photo to the vendor of the under arm so that people could at least see what they were buying, she sent me an “I’m sorry you are disappointed” gift and that was it.
Ok.. really… what you do with the feedback that I offer you, is up to you ofcourse, especially if unsollicited… and maybe reviewing fashion and skins for as long as I have been doing makes me über anal on seams issues and such… but, I just cannot believe that people are so blind that they don’t see this…. or that they like it when they see it… so getting no complaints… that doesn’t automatically mean that people are satisfied. More likely they just delete the outfit and don’t even bother to contact the creator… but most likely… they will not shop there again too… and I wonder… Is that the kind of clientbase you want to establish as a creator?
For a time I just let it go… until today I decided to go check up on the shop and see what was new (because really… she does make nice things too… I picked up the sassiest charleston dress there) and in the meantime decided to look at the altered vendor… including the photo she said she would add. And which she didn’t, as you can see above… I shot this photo just 30 minutes ago. I just don’t think it is fair to sell a dress with an obvious issue like this, and not show it to your clients… it may be only L$ 250… but according to me… it’s L$ 250 too much.

Dunno if I’m totally running after everyone else now… but I have just found this blog that I instantaneously fell in love with. Hard. Posh Pride.
From their “About”page… :
Deserve Fashion or die… Because Fashion does not need you.
Don’t follow the trend : create it… Because being trendy takes so much time that when you reach the trend, it’s already oldfashioned.
And please, don’t think being “blonde with a huge breast” is all you need…
Everything is a matter of taste… and Posh Pride is a question of life and death in this ugly world. We’re professional models, we’re not here to please you, but just to show you through some posts what mixing clothes means, and how you can always create a trend even with old things… and thanks to our advices and gossips, we sincerely hope you’ll find your own inner Posh… Proud to be fashionable, proud to be feared, proud to be posh.
