Skin Fair 2008

My friend and awesome photographer Carl Crabe by now is fully stressed out from getting 68 skinmakers to set up their booths in time, staying within prim limits and using the smallest possible textures to make it possible for YOU, the skin lovers around, to visit this first ever skin fair in SL and it is going to be awesome. Established and new skinmakers alike will showcase a plethora of amazing skins. Some of them will have some novelties to share with you, so make sure you do visit the event. Big hug for you Carl, and of course for the people who worked with you on this.
Now, no worries, you will have plenty of time to go there, as it will run for over a month, but still I would like to extent a heart felt reqest to all of you… when you visit the site, please do not load yourself with prims, ao’s, bling (yes.. ppl still use bling), and other scripted, lag inducing thingies. The orgainisation and the creators have done their utmost to limit lag, please show respect by doing just the same.

Look of the Day

I usually visit Bare Rose a couple of times per week. June Dion releases a LOT of adorable and creative outfits with tons of options and layers. It’s paradise for the avid shopper, also because Bare Rose is totally affordable, so it won’t ruin your linden balance… kinda.. I mean.. if you just shop enough… everything is possible.

But well… this is not about me being a happy bankrupt again. I picked up the amazing “Over the Rainbow” steam punk outfit that comes with a plethora of cute sculptie attachments and played around with it for a while. I admit, I break Bare Rose outfits up a lot, because I do not always feel like wearing costumes, but single parts of those outfits are more than once the inspiration for the outfit I’ll wear that day. This time it were the gloves that caught my attention. They really are amazing, with sculpted cuffs and partially open on the fingers to give extra grip on whatever you choose to touch with it. So they were at the base of the outfit that I wear here. The gloves, and the pants. They have some stains on the thighs, like you whiped your hands on them too often.

Laynie's Dress Ripped Off Out of Vengeance

So… wanna see a really angry Grazia? Too late, I’ve cooled off by now, but when I read Laynie’s message about her shop being bugged by a bunch of people protesting against her and Teagan’s support of Autism Speaks, and as a result Laynie’s Vanessa dress being ripped off … trust me I had steam coming out of my ears.

First and for all because, like Laynie and Teagan, I do support Autism Speaks. I think it is a great cause. Autism speaks researches the causes and possible treatments for autism, and helps patients and their families to live their life to the fullest of possibilities. This is their mission statement:

At Autism Speaks, our goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism pectrum disorders. We are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. We are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals.

Autism Speaks aims to bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis. It is our firm belief that, working together, we will find the missing pieces of the puzzle.Autism Speaks.

It’s time to listen.

Secondly, I think ripping someone’s work in general, but especially to take revenge over someone you don’t agree with, is despicable and pathetic and it makes me want to throw things.

Laynie now put the dress that was ripped out for free. I went to pick it up, and while I was there left a donation at the kiosk outside. I suggest you all do the same and turn this into something good.

Get it While You Can: Free Parfait shape

If all goes well, next weekend we will celebrate the official opening of the Rue d’Antibes sim, so I have decided to take the freebie shape that is currently in the shop down sometime on the 29th, and get something fresh in there, just in time for the opening.

She’s lovely, sexy, non mod, but comes with a skirtshape as well, so while she’s still out there… go grab her.

Have a nice weekend!
xoxo

New @ GRAPEVINE: Fashionality

Hello you all, I have made a set of new poses and they are inspired by this year’s spring campaigns. I have a passion for fashion magazines, and it’s just tremendous fun to see whether the poses you see in the spreads can be translated to SL without making your avatar look, uhm, well unhappy to say the least.

Anyways, hope you like them, they are available as usual for L$ 65 per pose, or L$ 500 for the entire set.

Grapevine is located in Rue d’Antibes: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rue%20D

Art on Avatar: Nicky Ree

A couple of weeks ago Anita Cassini from IBM contacted me and asked me if she could use an old photo that I published more than a year ago on Second Style blog wearing Nicky Ree´s Snow Princess gown. And I was like, omg.. it´s old… I didn´t know a single thing about SL photography…. what do you want with it?? So she TP’d me over to this big hall, full of amazing photos of gorgeous avatars showing off Nicky Ree creations. It is an initiative called Art on Avatar and guess what… the exhibition is opening later today. Read Anita’s press release for info and SLurl.

The Crescent Moon Museum branch at IBM SOA Adventure presents:

Art on Avatar

Opening Day: Feb 16 2PM SLT Tayzia Abattoir will cut opening ribbon. Musical perfomance by Guy Goodman . At 4PM there will be a treasure hunt where the IBM dress (woman) and IBM attire (men) and will be revealed. Exibit will run until March 15, 2008

New @ GRAPEVINE: poses

OK… finally I have the first poses in the shop. Took me ages to get them ready.. Torrid, thanks so much for giving me just that little bit of help that I needed…
Anyway, they are there now… You can buy them separate, at L$ 65 per pose or buy a set of 10 poses for L$ 500: Debut.. well… speaks for itself… they are the first I made with the idea in mind to release them sooner or later, and Cecile, that serie is named after Holland’s Next Top Model. I saw a spread in a magazine featuring her, and I got inspired by the poses in the photos.

Saturday the official opening of Rue d’Antibes sim will take place, and that will be a nice event with lots of fun and goodies for the visitors, so mark that in your busy schedules and let us make it worth your while.

Fleur

Last Sunday Roslin and CJ re-opened their sim with a smashing Casino Royal themed party with lots of goodies on the TOS compliant roulette table. Even though my crappy and very lag sensitive computer made moving hard for me, I had a great time. No wonder, because the party took place in the newly build shop. It’s only a few weeks ago that CJ outdid himself on the railway station, which I loved and hate myself for not taking a good series of photos of it while I could, but this new build is truly grand. CJ got inspired by the Raffles hotel in Singapore, which in hospitality business is still an icon. I really think CJ is one of the most amazing builders in SL. This new build does also justice to the new location, as the sim was moved next door to Tropical Orchid, Nicky Ree’s sim. These talented content creators are neighbours now and we can probably expect some nice collaborations in the future.

On the occasion of the re-opening of Fleur (formerly Tête à Pied) Roslin and CJ released a new skin in their Boutique series: Shouju. A high quality, no seams, no blotchy details anime inspired skin that you’ll also love if you are not into anime/manga or that kind of stuff. Comes in 2 light skintones, the porcelain Lily and the slightly pinker Lotus and in 6 delicious make ups. The body is everything you may expect from Fleur skins. OK. just wanted to share this with you before I run off to work and drag myself into my every morning traffic jam. XOXO

PS sorry for the poor lighting on the body.. I just could not get it right last night
